London Dungeons

Yes - but doesn't go in line with Merlin's takeover - focusing on scary, funny and educational. Hard to do something involving all those about a fire.
I suggested once they do a dark ride through the great fire of London, telling the story from the start, on the scale of Spirit of London...

The "explosive" Guy Fawkes scene seems to be the equivalent of the Great Fire scene.
Sounds promising!

Made a trip to Tooley Street yesterday, and saw a doorway into the Xtremis room removed, and all the lights inside on. The ride is still in place. They proceeded to board up said door with wood, and now it's completely sealed.
I did get some photos on my iPhone, not too sure they're worth viewing though!
Also, the torches are now in place above the new entrance, and works going on outside today. Good to see!

air_head said:No mention of the name 'Extremis' on that map, but 'Drop Dead' instead. Rebranding?
The Dungeons brand itself is getting a refresh, however with this being a rumoured top-loading drop tower, the name should help distinguish it from the other 'regular' ABC towers so to speak.

I can imagine one of two things for the sewer room, one being a maze type area with multiple trommels. The other possibly more likely idea is of a new theme for Vengeance, exterminating rats in the sewers?

Vengeance is not going to the new Dungeon
For all we know the whole room might rotate and all of a sudden you're standing on lots of rats... maybe it's a Madhouse type of effect (they're often found in large fun houses). Will be interesting.

The dungeons hated it. Especially when it got stuck in spin mode for 30 minutes one time with the restraints not able to lock...with people on it... plus the reduced capacity hold the new dungeon requires is why it's not moving.

I think that's a bit harsh as it's really nothing to do with Merlin; it's the ride manufacture company that failed here.
Merlin didn't make the ride hardware; they tried their best to keep it up to safe standards, but ultimately they didn't want it to move to the new attraction. Everyone who went on it enjoyed the ride... so it's certainly not a sarcastically used "merlin triumph".

I really would beg to differ with you there. Almost everyone on this forum hated it!
Also, it is partly Merlin's fault for choosing such a shoddy manufacturer and ride model.
Just spotted this on the LD website:

Regarding my earlier comment about the new drop tower name being exclusive to London, it appears I was wrong.
Extremis is now officially gone as part of the rebranding, and each Dungeons tower will be renamed Drop Dead.

Don't think so. They've always had the same motto - funny, horror and educational. It still states that the dungeon is not suited for those of a nervous disposition - and under 15s still require an adult. Their humour has always been slightly adult, too.
Also - I saw on Twitter from one of the actresses:
"Just watched one of the new dungeon shows and actually crapped myself haha so scary!!! Bloody brilliant!!!

If they had the space, a Duel style ride would've been much more suitable... essentially a ghost train through the house itself with the seance going all sorts of insane would've been great fun!
