M&D's: General Discussion

Well, now I've posted it I've noticed that link on Companies House is 2019 :oops:.

The new company is called LOCHVIEW THEME PARK (SCOTLAND) LTD. Directors as per previous post.

The shareholder is LEISURE MANAGEMENT (SCOTLAND) LTD, formerly GA (G) 250 LIMITED, which has four shareholders at 25x £1 shares each...

It's certainly a Phoenix company and a great way to bury your debt... how low can you get?

Well it's just a formality if you're selling your company to your kids to avoid paying your debts... you might say £100 is pretty cheap for writing off your debts and then getting back to "business as usual".
 
The park is now going ahead with socially distance drive in gigs for September.

Seems they are trying to branch out from their, ahem, theme park side of things. If I remember before administration they had wanted to expand on their business to make it more viable such as these so it seems they are keeping with that plan.

Sadly Tornado was up for sale to pay off the debts, now that they have been cleared, it still lives for another day to cause terror...give me a crappy, bog standard Vekoma SLC to replace it any day, at least that would be light years ahead of what they've got.

Their expansion plans (which also included a coaster) had drawn up a stage for live events. So this is the 2020 version, I guess. I'm not sure what makes M&D's attractive for gigs though apart from being convenient for the "drive in" aspect, which presumably will go away after coronavirus dies down!

I remember the plans came about in 2018 but nothing was heard since then as with many plans you get in the UK theme park industry. Knowing them I doubt that they'll get the expansion, even if they have cleared their debts in a rather suspect manor.

Though if they somehow pull all this off with expansion to the park and possible new coaster (second hand!) then I'll possibly weep at the prospect that these idiots have a better chance at getting something built compared to the London Resort. :(

Reading that M&D's is better than something doesn't sound right in a sentance. That's like saying Merlin are not money grabbing muppets.
 
Double post, but found this the plans from a few years back regarding the expansion plans that M&D's had been approved off which they may or may not actually go through with. Though considering the music venue was one of the plans for the expansion, they might be willing to go for it, though where will they get £3 million from to fund it regarding the situation?

The area covered by the existing lease is shown hatched on the plan above and extends to 6.36 hectares or thereby. The shaded parts on the plan show what is hoped in the expansion which will extend to circa 11.97 hectares giving a total revised lease area of 18.33 hectares.

Would be surprised if they could pull this off, though I would rebrand the park and get rid of many of the death-traps poor quality rides which being fairground rides could easily taking away. Plus it just shows you how tiny the place really is compared to the land they could potential expand further on.
 
I used to live in Scotland and I'll honest be I don't really get the point of an cheapo amusement park style place running up here. Mid-super travelling carnivals that plonk on a field near you are a bit of fun to go once a year and you don't travel far. But who is going to travel to go to M&D's in crappy weather. If they want to make a proper investment do something like LotteWorld in South Korea....lovely indoor theme park with nice theming and variety of rides - it also had shows and ice rink.

I knew a guy who worked at M&D and he told me of a few occasions where he was almost struck by falling part of rides/signs. I would avoid the place like the plague and their travelling Ferris wheels too.
 
Please do keep us updated. I'm very curious as too how this will play out. It sounds very dodgy the loophole they are exploiting.
 
Amazonia is now reopening after today.

However there is one comment on the facebook page that a family who had to cancel a meeting with a keeper some two years ago and have not been refunded since then and will likely never get their money back due to being a 'new' company.

Yes it's social media but honestly given how that place is run I'm inclined to believe this. The Taylor family really just want to take people's money and treat customers as scum. I know we all love to bash Merlin for how they run their parks but at least they invest in their attractions while these idiots don't, I can't believe there is a theme park operator in this country that makes Merlin look like saints in comparison.

Seeing how many good companies fall during this pandemic and M&D's still somehow survives proves we can't have nice things. :(:mad:

Don't know they thought of how true of a joke it was or if they didn't realise they were the joke...then again you have to be an idiot not to be on your own joke. Then again it doesn't make a good first impression going into the park.

Also, why on Earth would Del Boy want to up upsticks from Peckham to Scotland? :p

M&D's has announced its reopening from 24th August.

With them not using the chance to change their name to Lochview as we all might've thought, nothing changes.

Never have I been so upset at the prospect of a theme park reopening. :(
