Nemesis Reborn: General Discussion

Regarding that fence, I always felt that instead of having that shipping container and wee lab in there, would have been nice to have a mock building for the queue to go through while covering up that view of the car park. Pretty much a larger lab with with perhaps the track in the middle being experimented on with wires connected to it. Honestly some parts of the old track could have all easily been reused as theming elements for the queue to go round E.G walking under the half loop structure.

It’s odd that a fence was never added there originally when they did put a fence on the one side. I guess there might have been plans for theming or something else there originally that got cut. And odd they didn’t just add a fence up during the season when it wouldn’t have taken long to install.

I haven’t been reading this thread at all, as I’m not an Alton Towers regular by any means, so apologies if this has already been discussed.

My one and only ride on Reborn was during Scarefest and I have to say that whilst I enjoyed it, it did have a few little patches where it felt slow and cumbersome. I don’t remember that on the original. Like there were a few bits where it just seemed to slow down and as though that section wasn’t meant to be there.

Still a good ride overall, but I do seem to remember the original was pretty constant and didn’t let up like Reborn seems to.

Just my two cents anyway.

It appears to lose quite a lot of momentum from the vertical loop onwards. The original felt as though it used to whip around the final inversion, now not so much.

Something something wheel compounds probably.

As someone who has mainly experience the new one, I would say sometimes it can whip around the last inversion quite nicely (not sure how in relation to the old nemesis though)
but it can depend as sometimes it can be a bit slower as all rides are, for instance sometimes the smiler can give a huge amount of hang time if it is cold, other times you feel not much

We all have to remember that we are comparing a ride that hasn't even had a year to bed in with a ride that had had 30 years to bed in!

Considering this, on the whole (and ignoring the new B&M rattle(TM)) I think Reborn is doing a bloody good job to match - and for many exceed - the ride experience the original gave. If it's like this now, imagine what it'll be like in 5, 10 or 30 years time!

That’s interesting, as I actually disagree.

From my experiences (I’ve had 5 rides across 3 days in Alton Towers this year), I actually think Reborn has, if anything, felt faster than the original for me. Some of the turns have felt like they pack a bit more momentum than they used to on the original. Perhaps it’s just that having it gone for a year has made me appreciate what a brilliant ride it is a bit more now it’s back, but I’ve definitely felt like my rides this year have been a bit faster than my rides before the retrack.

When combined with the fact that the headbanging of the original is also gone, I personally find Nemesis Reborn to have improved on the original as a track and train ride experience, for sure. I personally find the rattle very subtle (I hardly even notice it) and completely benign, and am surprised it’s had as much discourse surrounding it as it has. If it wasn’t discussed as much as it has been, I don’t think I’d have even thought about it.

I'm inclined to say Reborn rides better.

Maybe I just appreciate it more, knowing there was a very real possibility it could've been removed.

Or maybe the area enhancements have made the overall experience more enjoyable.

All I know is, it's gone up in my rankings.

The element after the vertical loop is a stall turn, it’s intended to give you a breather before the final invert.

Having ridden Nemesis since 1994, there is no real difference in intensity between old and new, that said Nemesis has always varied quite dramatically in intensity through the season as wheel compounds change.
