Parc Astérix: General Discussion

I think we are looking for it to be roughly in this sort of region.

It looks like a fantastic addition to the park, it’s just what they need after their recent trend towards family additions. A new thrill coaster is just what they need, just a shame about that damn ‘Anticipation Stall’ killing all flow!

This new coaster looks excellent. Cant imagine the capacity to be that great though with the switch track

Looking at it you've got at least 2 trains on circuit, potentially could have 3 if they have an offload/stacking brake run... Don't think capacity will be a big deal with it...

I'm not sure on the pacing of the triple launch thing in the middle of the circuit rather than the start of it... I think they're a half useful concept for parks who don't have the space or money to afford several feet long worth of launch track...

I visited Parc Astérix today and had a really good day! It was much better than I had anticipated, and I may write a trip report at some point.

However...

Le Transdemonium est FERMÉ! Seemingly closed and gone forever. Not just shut off at the entrance, but no signs for it anywhere on park, and not even mentioned on the park map, with attraction number 17 now being the new 4D film.

:(

They have closed it!? Oh dear... does not leave much by way of dark rides :(

Nope. So now there's Defi de César, a dark ride section on Epidemaïs Croisière and the tunnel on the rapids...

Fortunately today was nice and warm and didn't rain too much.

Transdemonium was hardly a top-drawer dark ride, but its unique quirks were what made it. I really liked the bells! And the spiral section with the bicycles!

And the weird puppet thing!

I have a soft spot for it since it was the first thing I rode there. :(

Sweet LORD above the Bells. Every damn time.

This really is such a shame and I am genuinely really quite sad about it :(

This is a shame. Although the ride is still listed on their website.

So both rides that Farmer Studios from Leicester themed for 2003 have now closed their doors. Transdemonium and Excalibur at Drayton.

Construction video from 2002-2003 can be seen here:

Unfortunately it is being reported that the Intamin launch coaster at Asterix has been pushed back from 2021 to 2022. Something to do with protected trees.

Not 100% confirmed though.
