Re: Phantasialand
I'm now intrigued as to what ride type this could possibly be. When I was looking at the model I saw the hop and instantly assumed we'd be seeing something like Atlanica Supersplash, from Mack or Intamin.
But now they're refering to the ride as "a log flume ride" I seriously don't know what to expect. To be able to boast such a claim then I think we can rule out any large capacity boats right? I mean, Hydro must be one of the steepest in that group, being near verticle?
THe use of the term "log flume" implies to me that they will be small individual boats, seating 4-5 people at most. But then the hop. Who makes a log flume with those? I've only ever seen and ridden one, and that was Menhir Express at Asterix (An awesome ride I might add
), and that was built by Hopkins (Who also built Tidal Wave I believe). I want to know more!!!

Re: Phantasialand
Maybe. If it's literally a classic log flume, then perhaps... perhaps the park will finally buy something from Mack.
Ian said:See I wouldn't personally put that under "log flume ride" though. It looks more akin to Stormforce and co than anything. Maybe that's how PL are making these claims? Cryptic wording?![]()

Re: Phantasialand
I believe they were Schwarzkopf, as was much of the park through the 1980s (Silber Mine, Geister Rickshaw, 2 coasters, 1001 Nacht) I could be wrong, though - but they felt nothing like Mack.

Re: Phantasialand
This is only the translated text that Phantasialand has written on that picture that Sam had posted. So hopefully Phantasialand knows what they write.
The ride manufacturer is still not known, but in the german forums the rumour is that this ride will not be from Mack.

The Hightlights:
- ride experience on 5 levels
- more than 6 minutes ride time
- three drops, one is backward
- unique camelback drop in europe
- worldwide steepest drop for a log flume ride with 53º decline

Re: Phantasialand
According to Wikipedia.de they were actual Mack's and apparently they used to be one single massive flume ride before being split into two separate flumes.AstroDan said:I believe they were Schwarzkopf, as was much of the park through the 1980s (Silber Mine, Geister Rickshaw, 2 coasters, 1001 Nacht) I could be wrong, though - but they felt nothing like Mack.Ian said:The old pair were Mack weren't they?![]()

Re: Phantasialand
I am still not 100% convinced it was Mack... sure, it's likely - but they never looked like Mack, and the boats were different to other Mack Log Flumes.
Unless it just happened to be a really early generation Mack Flume ride.

Re: Phantasialand
Well you could be right. Several sites state that Mack were responsible for the conversion but none of them specifically said they built the ride in the first place, just that they were the manufacture which could simply be talking about the conversion.
But it is quite an old ride so it could have been them that originally built it as well.

Re: Phantasialand
Very Very exciting project I must say! It's bound to bring a brand new lease of life into the heart of the park and connect all the themes in the area much better than before.
Anyway, without further ado, have some of the latest construction pictures from Phantastische-Fans. Images taken this Saturday just gone, 24th Novemeber.
Bottom of the site and the rides station.
Top end of the site where the ride will have its high point in the newly built mountain.
One of the rides drops, built right up against the current Black Mamba structure.
The drop and what looks to be a turn table area to reverse the boats.
Drop track close up, track geeks... Analyse
New Rock work already going in to seal the mountain round the back of Colorado!
In terms of manufacturer, just from looking at construction pics, I would say it looks quite ABC going off the pics of Klotten's new flume!
Well, looking great so far I must say, can't wait to get back to PL to ride it!

Re: Phantasialand
Glad to see CA is going to be given a new lease of life in all this
Please please please PLEASE Phantasialand deal with the warehouses. I'll be over the moon if they do!
They've actually been quite clever with the design really. From the looks of it this is going to completely screen Mamba and Mexico from each other more or less. That should help make the areas much more immersive. Mamba has always been a very dominating attraction over that end of the park. If they can try and hide it a bit more it'll be nice, and stop it encroaching on the other areas.
That short, sharp drop looks more or less certain to be the reverse drop. Could pack quite a punch if the boats travel backwards for a while before, and will really catch riders off guard if it's concealed. I'm still wondering if we're going to see a verticle lift somewhere along the ride. Probably at the end to bring it to the highpoint.
The channels looks very narrow, so I'd probably put money on inline seating for 4-5 people, like a traditional flume ride.

Re: Phantasialand
Oh how marvellous
!
The construction photos are showing the traits of Phantasialand that I admire so very much - packing a huge ride and associated themeing into a very compact area.
The looks of that concept art.. WOW. Absolutely stunning! Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.
Sam, re: ABC, I think you could be right? Does that Klotten flume have a vertical lift? A vertical lift would fit in rather well with Phantasialand's project, what with such a small footprint...

Re: Phantasialand
The Klotten Flume does indeed have a vertical lift. However, I think it is a wider gauge track as that particular flume seats 6 with 3 rows to 2 side by side. Judging from the pics of Chiapas, this will certainly only be single row seating arrangement, I mean you only have to compare it to the drinks bottle sat in the rail
Another interesting find while browsing the PL based fan-sites was this video showing what somebody believes to be the layout going from the construction so far along with the concept images.
CHIAPAS DIE WASSERBAHN - Phantasialand Neuheit 2013 Streckensimulation1
From what I can tell, most of it will actually happen burried deep within the mountain structure! Which fingers crossed, will lead to some amazing themed areas with indoor dark ride sections!
