Pleasurewood Hills

How long has it been dragging itself along the bottom now?
At least a decade isn't it?
Close friend used to have family close by, kids only ever wanted to go once!

I'm guessing their visitors are mostly holidaymakers visiting the area rather than travelling there specifically for the park. With not a lot else to do around there maybe that works for them as a strategy and the same people would visit anyway even if they spend big money on a massive new attraction. Being a well presented pleasant place will be more valuable than new ride investment.

I went last year for the first time in about 20 years and had a pretty great day, if I were on holiday in Yarmouth again this year I'd almost certainly return.

Oakwood and Pleasurewood Hills both feel very similar. They are parks that have seemingly plodded along for years and are next to popular holiday destinations.

I went to Yarmouth a fair bit during my childhood, and we always visited Pleasurewood Hills during our holidays. I would likely only go to the park again if I were in Yarmouth. Oakwood is doable as a day trip since I live in Wales, but again, I would only visit if I were on a holiday in Pembrokeshire. I wouldn't go out of my way to specifically visit these parks.

I suspect the majority of visitors are families on domestic holidays, which likely keeps both parks operating.

Locals round here don't bother much with the park, thats where it fell foul.

Last significant investment/attraction was marble madness 10/11 seasons ago, that did the park well yet nothing been added since, lots removed and substantial SBNO areas across the park is very sad to see.

Yes they have been tarting up rides etc yet this is general tlc that should be done regardless and the continuation of advertising new look each season doesn't wash with the local market at all.

You only have to see the comments left on official Facebook posts to see what the general public want...

Operating hours were actually reduced last year which did surprise me as it use to be open for longer than AT , yet not now.

Ticket wise I think is still fairly good value, yet I know most will go to GYPB as they have yet again another new attraction for 2024.

Ride heights seem pretty good, its somewhere i could take the family and most of the rides we would all get on bar wipeout for the little one. Defo on my list this year especially if we take the van over that way too

Same. I haven't been for probably 30 years now. We have family in that direction and are there every few weeks but there's nothing that is enough of a draw to warrant the extra drive versus going the other direction to the Merlin parks or Adventure Island in Southend.

Paid parking has now been implemented at the park at a charge of £3 a day it seems, anpr cameras in use.

Unclear if season pass holders get the parking for free...

Not a wise move in my opinion from a park which has had nothing new for a decade, attractions removed and not replaced, a awful amount of stuff is sbno, a reduction in operating hours and a reduction in running days of the park...

Holiday makers won't know any difference and pay the parking fee yet it won't do the local audience ( which is much smaller these days) any enthusiasm to cough up or even visit...

Out of interest, is anyone on here local to Pleasurewood Hills and able to give any indication of the current state of affairs on Marble Madness?

I only ask because I'm headed to PWH on 12th August for my first ever visit, and I noticed that Marble Madness is listed as currently being down for "refurbishment" and returning in summer 2024.

Does anyone know whether they're making good progress on this, or how thorough this refurbishment is exactly, so that I can determine whether it'll be open by 12th August?

I won't be too distraught if it is closed when I go, as I don't rate wild mouse coasters and would basically only be riding it for the +1, but I'd obviously like the credit to be open so that I can get it, if possible!

I am very close, still SBNO, God knows what the hold up is as the track has been back since before Christmas...

It was half put back up and just left.

Also parking charge is now in force..

Whilst it's great to get the credits, I'd choose to do something else if I was you, there isn't much to fill your day with these days.

That's a shame if true, although as said, this is a credit I would not be overly distraught about missing compared to others on the same trip given that it's a stock model wild mouse, a model I don't even like much anyway.

I'm definitely going to PWH. We're trekking down to East Anglia with the specific intent of ticking off some of the remaining semi-major UK parks I haven't yet visited, with us planning to do PWH, Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach and also Joyland with their unique-looking spinning coaster Tyrolean Tubtwist.

I've never been to any of these parks before in my life, so I'm interested to see what East Anglia's main parks have to offer! Me and my mum have also never been to East Anglia in our lives, and my dad hasn't been since a holiday to Great Yarmouth back in the 80s!

Don't have much expectation. PB is fine for a beachside amusements and Joyland beyond the coasters and Snails I can't even remember if it has anything else.

Sounds like PWH has been on a steep decline. I remember the hype around Hob's Pit opening but then nothing.

In fairness it's probably best getting to Pleasurewood now as I can see Looping flogging the whole site for housing in a few years

They don't own the land from what I recall I think its like alton its on some lease back thing.

We would like to hope that loppings will invest how they have at drayton yet I can't see it, PWH is quite a laughing stock now, particularly locally and that's what has impacted it more.

Hobs was brilliant when it was actually at its maximum potential , marble madness gave the park its last huge attendance period and there was a buzz yet that was over ten years ago, and even that is now SBNO with no signs of it actually getting sorted ( like most of the site )

First and only time I visited was when Hobs Pit and Marble Madness were new and even then I didn’t feel any desire for a return visit. This is despite paying an annual visit to Yarmouth. Dread to think what the state of the place is now
