What is the best way round to do the coasters?
If you get into the park when it opens, the coasters at the back (eg those in Forbidden Valley and Dark forest) are quietest because everyone goes to Wicker Man and X-Sector (nearest to entrance). The coasters at the back and get big ques later in the day. You may also want to do Wicker Man first, as it usually has a huge queue all day.

Nemesis rarely has a big queue. I'm not sure it's worth wasting time there in the morning. I'd probably go anticlockwise around the park. Most people seem to head to Wicker Man or The Smiler first.

Nemesis may hit 70 minutes, but that's still short compared with other rides. At one point today Rita, Smiler, Wicker Man and Thirteen were all posting 120 min queues.

Gate numbers this season is irrelevance to how busy the queue lines are due to poor ride operations. On a quiet day, they run less trains on the coasters, so waiting times are no difference.

Next week, most of the schools are back (with the exception of the local schools) so the gate numbers should be low, but do expect to spend some time queuing due to poor ride operations. The park usually goes quieter after dark and with he park open for 11 hours, you should get on a few good rides, both during the day and once darkness fall. Don't forget the clocks go back tonight, so you get an extra hour of rides in the dark.

Thanks for the information. We usually have a very good day, mainly because we never queue for more than 30 minutes for any ride, and just traipse around the park looking for the short rides. We don't mind walking a lot!

I've heard a lot of rides have been closed this weekend possibly due to the weather. Looking at tomorrow it's going to be as cold if not colder. Are there any policies for bad weather causing the park to pretty much be closed in regards refunds or partial refunds?

Good luck with that, You have to be lucky to queue for less than 30mins on a quiet day this season and that is just to queue to get into the park ;)

As for partial/full refunds, again good luck with that, the best they will offer you if you are lucky, is that they will offer you a free return ticket or fast track for the least popular rides.

Yes, getting into the park the last few years has been pretty bad. We used to get there about 9.50 and walk on to a monorail, not any more. Planning on leaving earlier tomorrow and seeing if getting there any earlier helps....which I doubt lol. Sometimes I think walking would be quicker. (Did that once by accident....would rather not do it again).

Hmm... yes I'm not expecting too much to be honest. It doesn't sound like it's been that great for queue times. Generally we spend a lot of the day walking one from ride to another multiple times waiting for the big ones to quieten down (or leave until the very last) but I'm not sure that is going to work.

Well when they catch sight of my poor little red nose and frost bitten fingers they might take pity. ;) I went once in October about 6 years ago, it snowed then but they kept everything open. I can understand caution but if they can close so many on a busy weekend I don't think there's much hope for a "quieter" day.

I’d say Spinball has two to three years left at the very most. I’m certain it’ll be the next coaster to leave the park.

I do love Alton towers but I do feel like merlin has ruined the place. Opening SBNO rides is a good start and refurbing areas. But they most of all need to sort out opening hours, 10am-4pm is very poor

Not sure if this is in the right place but....

Is it possible to get a take away delivered to the enchanted village?

We stayed in the chained oak in july and got a delivery through just eat from cheadle kebab and pizza and enjoyed it

Thinking we'll probably put our bags in the room 4ish and order take away then go back for fireworks if its possible

Yep it’s possible. Just add a note to the order asking them to call you when they arrive at EV reception and you can walk up and collect it from them.

Edit: bear in mind the park roads become exit only on fireworks nights, usually from around 7pm I believe until the cars have cleared after the park closes.

Thanks

The plan is to order well before 7 so should be ok

Hello, can someone help me please?. We visited the park a few times this year and had quite a long wait at the ticket counters just to get into the park, we've purchased the 2019 season pass online so we can go straight into the park, but can i buy the car park ticket from somewhere else other than the ticket windows? Do they have car park ticket machines somewhere else near the entrance? Thanks x
