Ride Availability/Operations 2022-24

I believe it was published at 1900pph.

I'm not sure how close to this figure it actually attained but it certainly wasn't the meagre low 1000s that we get these days.
Low 1,000s is excellent for Oblivion these days, I’d say! I often get it at 800-900pph on 2 stations, and last weekend, I got it at 578pph on 5 shuttles/2 stations.
I think the unconfirmed thoosie mutterage at the time was something like one punter every two seconds if the staff were on the ball, all gates open, and every last seat stuffed, which they often were.
That fits nicely with 1900
I believe one guest every two seconds would be 1,800pph or 30 riders per minute, if I’m calculating correctly.

On a related note, I have some throughput figures of my own from last weekend that I’d like to share.
  • Galactica (Theoretical: 1,500pph on 3 trains/2 stations): Did not get a throughput figure, but the ride was running 2 trains/2 stations (26th March 2023)
  • Oblivion (Theoretical: 1,900pph on 7 shuttles/2 stations): 578pph (5 shuttles/2 stations, 25th March 2023, average of 5 dual dispatches/10 shuttles)
  • Rita (Theoretical: 1,150pph on 2 trains): 650pph (2 trains, 25th March 2023, average of 10 dispatches)
  • Runaway Mine Train (Theoretical: 1,061pph on 1 train): 618pph (1 train, 26th March 2023, average of 3 dispatches)
  • The Smiler (Theoretical: 1,000pph on 4 trains): 916pph (4 trains, 25th March 2023, baggage hold open, average of 10), 865pph (4 trains, 26th March 2023, baggage hold open, average of 10)
  • Thirteen (Theoretical: 1,100pph on 3 trains): 640pph (2 trains, 25th March 2023, baggage hold open, average of 10)
  • Wicker Man (Theoretical: 952pph on 3 trains): 760pph (3 trains, 25th March 2023, average of 10), 1,006pph (3 trains, 26th March 2023, average of 10)

Is it quite rare for them to run 2 trains with two stations on Galaticair ?

I don't recall seeing that for a long time.
I can only assume one craft just isn't ready.

Do they get a higher throughput on two craft, two station rather than just using one station with two crafts?

I assume it’s because on two stations, they can send a train straight into the empty station, whereas on one station, the train has to wait outside for the train in front to finish loading.

Theoretically they can get more with 2 stations (numbers I've heard are 32/hr rather than 28/hr), whether or not they actually do is another matter.

Oblivion can at best operations dispatch a single shuttle every 40 seconds (ish) as that’s the time it takes to go up the lift hill.

In the old days it used to be able to get close to that as by the time the 2nd shuttle reached the top of the lift hill they where dispatching the next two shuttles.

I measured Oblivion's throughput as an average of 898 pph today from 2 measurements if anyone's interested.
EDIT: Oblivion also seemed to be stacking a lot around 17:00.

I never expect amazing throughputs from Towers these days but March/ April is the worst time to check them as most of the staff are new.

Wouldn’t the best possible interval be a constant repetition of the interval between the first and second shuttles in a dual dispatch?

In this case, I’d make that to be a little over 1,700pph, or perhaps around 1,600-1,700pph. As far as I can remember, I’ve timed that quick interval twice, and my two readings were 1,627pph and 1,722pph.

With that in mind, wouldn’t Oblivion’s maximum throughput be roughly equal to that kind of ballpark?

It's funny you say that I actually think they're coping better than I feared they might. Only ride I'd say that is directly suffering is off course Galactica. Ops aren't great on it to begin with but it's now the only major ride in the area so it's under a lot of pressure.
Hasn’t yet got busy the next two weeks will be a test as we come into peak season. We’ve still got 13 on two trains and Air was only running two again today.

Scarefest for the half term will be one to avoid!

It could cope without Nemesis if it had support rides and the coasters it had ran close to theoretical.
But we don’t have this currently.

Galactica today was an absolute joke. No idea what’s been done over close season on this but it’s got some real reliability issues in a season where it needs to run faultlessly to cope.

I wish Alton would make the tweaks necessary to increase throughput. The below changes would help them get an extra few dispatches an hour.

The exit gate and staff gate on RMT...

Oblivion's chaotic RAP...

Smiler baggage coming and going...

Th13teen narrow exit...

Rita too few staff...

Galactica batching hosts...

Spinball/WM: Can't complain.

Retrosquad being operated properly

Nemesis RAP situation sorted

RMT hosts not having to both walk the entire train

Rapids more boats

Dungeons FOC to help capacity

WM gaining station kicker wheels

Oblivion RAP to go up the FT queue and be split at the final tower

Would also be nice for Ambulant RAP to be able to use the Fastrack steps on Thirteen again.
