That's not been implied anywhere!? Intamin's safety record is abysmal for such a major manufacturer. Whether it be restraint failures, having to re-design layouts due to forces that are too high or other mechanical issues they seem to cause more problems than any other manufacturer. None of us can comment on the maintenance of the ride at Terra Mitica as we do not know anything about it, we can't comment on the operations. But we do know the history of Intamin so it gives us a decent foundation to base comments and discussion on.

    :)

I really don't know how many times I have to repeat myself. I did not say that Intamin have not got a below par safety record.

I know that you haven't said that and you offered your own alternative opinion on what might have happened. However, the reason why people are presuming it is a fault of Intamin's is due to their safety record and thus it will be brought up when people provide a counter-argument to disagree with what you say. After all, this is a discussion.

Okay. I'm just going to agree. It would seem that no one here wants a differing opinion to what might have happened.

Sorry, what? Nobody here is stopping you having a differing opinion? It's natural on a forum for people to disagree and when that happens a discussion takes place between them. Nobody said you can't think what you want, but it's obvious that if someone disagrees they will try to rebut your points with a counter-argument.

Sure, it's frustrating if people disagree with what you think but there's no need to get disgruntled :)

*Nods* If you say so. I have no opinion. By all means, continue slagging Intamin off. I really cba with it.

It's just discussion though. There have been many times in the past where I have been in the minority trying to argue something against the majority and although it can be frustrating it's just a natural occurrence on a forum. I think most people here do or would agree that we need to wait for a report to know the full cause of the incident but in the meantime Intamin's past record means that they are the most suspect. The initial report said that the restraint failed or something along those lines, that doesn't just happen without something going very wrong!

    :)

I'm choosing to end this discussion for two reasons, one, I am just repeating myself, and two, I'm quite fed up of being told I am wrong constantly. Really, I get that Intamin have an awful track record. I don't need to be told a hundred times.

I have a reasonable knowledge of most coaster doings, including incidents, not infallible but there you go.

No one has implied that, certainly only B&M of the old guard of manufacturers has no technical failures to it's record as far as i remember, it's simply the sheer scale of incidents that is worrying.

The discussion you joined was the record of Intamins safety, maybe the point you joined made it look like you where defending Intamin as a whole, that may not have been your intention but it is how it read. If not that all is well that ended well :)

Yeah... No one implied that Intamin are the only manufacturer that kill people...
Wait, that is a quote from someone, implying just that!

While I see your arguments objectively and that you're focusing on debate, I've just read last few days work of discussion in one swoop and it's becoming heated. Absolutely nothing wrong with that when we have such passionate members! However...

There have been a few posts where it's become personal. I'm not pointing fingers, I'm just asking you all to look at your post history here and reign it in a little. Debates are fine, getting stroppy and personal is not :).

Everyone is entitled to their own view - life would be pretty boring if we didn't differ! :)

I know we have kinda moved on a little, but it does make make me laugh how almost all mention of Intamin problems have been removed/not entered from a ride inspection website and yet B&M have a fairly large list.

I might be wrong, but it looks like Intamin might be doing a fair bit of covering up.

Apparently green lantern at magic mountain (zac spin) has now reopened, plus a news paper article states that terra mitica had made modifications/changes to the restraints on their zac spin without permission from Intamin.

If true (and given SFMM have reopened theirs it seems likely) then it looks like Intamin are absolved.

Insane at Grona Lund also reopened today, and the Swedes are reporting modifications to the restraining system on Inferno...

So we can blame the Spanish then... Excellent!
