It's a pity rides like Emperor will no doubt be subject to a surcharge.

Yep, not a fan of how they're doing things at the minute. Gone back to the old ways under Anheuser Busch.

Does that mean it's an upcharge?

He was making a joke about it being an upcharge (it won't be) because the SeaWorld parks have started upcharging for things like the skyride & sky tower which is very annoying. (Although it is how it used to be back in the AB days which enthusiasts seem to fantasise about for some reason haha)

It probably will be an upcharge if you have a bag though, thanks to the $2 locker fee.

That has to be one of the fastest dive coasters I've seen and it's only just started testing.

Don't rides typically run faster during testing?

Not that I've seen, they normally crawl round. Until they've bedded in a bit they're normally pretty slow.

That isn't the case with GCI wooden coasters, oddly.

    Same for RMCs.

B&Ms however generally are quite slow testing; Orion is a good recent example. Hence why it's surprising to see this with quite a spot of pace already.

I'm surprised this was never reported on at the time, but SeaWorld San Diego's version of Wild Arctic closed on 10th January and is said to be getting replaced by a family launch coaster with a similar theme and multiple launches. Not much else is known, really. Are there any rumours swirling around @MakoMania?

I remember hearing Intamin a while back, where from I cannot remember now. I think there was a layout leaked months ago as well, low to the ground launch coaster, several launches and very family friendly.

Why would they build something like that when they already have Manta?

No idea haha. There is the 30ft limit in San Diego though, there can only be a specified number of rides at the park in excess of that height. I think it may be 4 or 5 from memory (excluding Sky Tower, Skyride & Atlantis) so that's Electric Eel and Emperor already.Maybe they're wanting to save that height limit for big thrill rides?

The San Diego Wild Arctic was way less fun than Orlando. Mainly because it wasn't rough as nails. The one in Orlando is hilarious. I love it!

The follow-up coaster to Emperor, believed to be an Intamin Family Launch and originally due 2021/22 has been cancelled.

Quite why the park felt the need to build it in the first place given they have Manta I have no idea.

Emperor, the B&M Dive Coaster, will open this season after its delay from last year.
