I'd assume that this previously undiscovered area of the Towers was the original location of TMOJ, before they probably built themselves their own facility [SW7 station]. Then the experiments stopped and the station some how became swallowed up by the earth. Then along came Towers and dug it up during routine excavation work.

No, it's from the 1900's. That's why it somehow went unnoticed, because it's been abandoned for 100 years.Longy said:Is this why the station look old and worn on the plans?
Is this facility from the 80's then?
This is quite interesting!

I realllly wish they stopped with the "something being discovered" idea. Can they not just go along with, "Ok this has been here for ages and we have never been inside since its closed. This changed when we were clearing out the old Black Hole site. We had to go inside. We thought we knew what was inside, but what we found goes beyond even our imagination. We are now opening up this old building for authorised personnel only."
Same idea, but drops the whole "Look what we found" idea.

just a few things
1) The story given by Towers is for the MAZE, obviously they have indicated that the maze and SW7 and linked but it might not be that SW7 is exactly the story of the maze, the maze could maybe act as a prequel.
2) Towers never give too much away about their new rides.
3) Towers like to wind enthusiasts up, they have done it before (and specifically for Scarefest in the past) so just treat everything with a little caution.

The trouble is that 'look what we found' makes more sense then 'this has always been here and now we're letting you inside' - because people know that the big station building wasn't there before. Either way, any story they come up with has to involve suspending belief but the 'discovery' idea works considering a great big building (and visible ride) has appeared out of nowhere over closed season.

I can't see it being too related to SW7 as I don't understand what an old ministry has got to do with an 8 legged destructive robot and a sci-fi themed land :-\

Yeah, my camera on my phone has a grease mark behind that piece of glass that covers the lense, don't know how, but I think it was from when I was getting it fixed in a computer/phone shop. Probably greasy fingers!
Also, while at Alton Towers, I noticed the Black Hole arch wasn't there! Looks so wierd without it. (Have no clue how long it has been gone, maybe someone else knows!) I hope it's reused somewhere & somehow.

Maybe the maze linked to SW7 could be part of the queline? Or something to do with it?
Sort of like leading up to the story?
Maybe the Ministry of Joy is like a place where everyone supposedly has fun or whatever but its not what you think? Like a twist in the story which takes you on the ride?
Im sorry! I dont really know where im going. :-\

They don't need to explain why something is in the theme park that wasn't there last year. It's how theme parks work. This bit of it doesn't need a back story every single time.
Even Disney don't go "this mountain has suddenly been discovered, in a backwater area of the Animal Kingdom!" Because part of the trade-off that visitors make when they 'suspend their disbelief' is that they try and get rid of the entire idea that they're in a theme park (like when you're on Everest or Big Thunder for example).
Therefore the park doesn't always need to explain how the new ride has come to be in the park, because part of the idea of immersive attractions is that they invite you to forget you're in a theme park at all.

How about my back story for SW7. ok, it really does not fit the plans but i did it as a bit of fun over the 3 supports for the tent that where left a bit back.
"In 2005 the blackhole was hit directly by cosmic rays. The track started to change, so the ride was closed until they could find out what was happening. then in Mid 2012, it bust out of the original tent. growing and expanding. Changing into a new, bigger, outdoor layout.
In March 2013, it stopped and became the ride SW7, the only original parts of BlackHole are 3 tent supports in the middle of the rides queue area. "

Took a trip up to the resort today for the first time in around 3 weeks, i have to say i was impressed with the amount of work that's been done since my last visit. I've seen various photo's on here over the last few days of the site in it's current state and i have to say none of them do it justice until you see it in person, there's so much space, and the holes been dug out are huge. Really exited now for sw7 and can't wait to see the track go up in the coming weeks
Heres a few photo's from today, they don't really show anything that you haven't already seen but i'll share them anyway
Enjoy

Surely I can't be the only one to read this and wish that they'd gone for a slightly more upbeat theme? Human experiments don't interest me at all, I'd of preferred aliens or something with the Alton Towers humour which lingers from the 90s.
Still, I suppose we'd better not count our chickens before they lay alien eggs...

That a full-sized digger down there? Is so, that's deep. Whereabouts on the site is it located - under the station? Intrigued to know what it could be for...
