Ah, my search for the elusive enthusiast shall continue!
As for the restraint issue, I really hope sense is seen and we have lap bars rather than OTSR. I'd love to see a refined X-Car/Rush style restraint. Something like these would be awesome X-Train. I know it's a different manufacturer, but if they could refine and develop those to go on a Eurofighter track I belive we'd be onto a winner there!

Now I don't for one minute think that this ride will have a rotating track section but if there was then there would be some sort of illusion. Now this ride has been confirmed to have four rows of seating. If there was an illusion then there would be a awful view of that illusion from the rows that aren't the front. Now that would mean either elevated seating or the rotating track could be like this.
Once again I don't think that there will be a rotating track but if there is then thats an idea of mine.

Lap bars are for airtime and kids rides imo, not for going upside down 8 times.
Lapbars will be better in every way. OTSRs just feel too safe and restrictive. Lap bars will be much more thrilling.

As much as I would love Silver star or blue fire stay lap bars I think we will end up with something like Saw
Now I don't how the industry works, I would imagine it's what the manufacturer provide, if Gerstlauer want to phase out OTSR then I would imagine we are likely to get OTSR, unless Alton Towers desperately want them.
from what I've heard Gerstlauer seem keen to go towards the lap bar route, so unless Alton Towers have got specific data that lap bars would lose potential customers I doubt they would go to the trouble, as I would think Gerstlauer may charge more for OTSR, because if they think a better riding experience is available one way they would want that way to be used as their reputation would rise or fall depending on the ride experience.
This is only assumptions as I have no idea, but just some thoughts floating through my head.

Do you know that The Swarm technically has Lap Bars?
Sure they are over the shoulder lap bars but if you removed the vest (which is basically just a very comfy seatbelt and doesn't actually hold you in place) then what you get is the same restraint as Blue Fire. The fact that it comes over your shoulders is fairly irrelevant and The Swarm holds you upside down through the first drop. Would you prefer it if SW7 had something like that?

I dont mind really but I suppose OTSLR/OTSLB (Over the shoulder lap restraints/Over the shoulder lap bars ) would be better than having the normal T bars as it gives you more freedom.
Could you imagine going through the Marmilisewashing machine element with lap bars it would be great.

Im really not a fan of the Swarm restraints. They get tighter and tigher, and unlike the vest on Air, the ones on Swarm stay tight until the restraints are unlocked. Not a great feeling if you are stuck outside the station for more than a few minutes.
I think that may be because you haven't experienced an inverting lapbar.
Blue fire for example, my first time riding I forgot I was using a lapbar, it felt natural, you are snugly in place, and once you get going, you never feel like you are going to fall out. just a ridiculous amount of freedom compared to OTSR.
