Looks like TowersNerd were in a TowersStreet sandwich...

Geeks unite! :p

I really hope they bring out a t-shirt or hoody that says "I've been Marmaised" (sp?) I'd definitely have one of those.

I think this could well be the first ride I buy a t-shirt for...

Can't wait til the 10th so I can ride it!!!! :D

One thing that's good about a lot of the themes Merlin choose is they look better over time.

What's this ride going to look like in 5 years time? I have a feeling it's going to look rather dilapidated. It looks so polished and pristine at the moment.
If anything I think the opposite about a lot of Merlin themes. Generally, their rides have been built to look old or dilapidated or half-finished or half-constructed so that in the future you hopefully won't notice any neglect to theme. I think this is the total opposite!

Aha, I probably didn't make it very clear, but you've reiterated the point I was trying to make. :-[

Can anyone who's been on park today say how long the queues for The Smiler were?

I'm thinking of going to go next Saturday as it's the only chance I'll have to have a go this year!

First thing this morning, joined the queue before the main one had opened. Advertised queue time; 3 Hours. Actual queue time; 1h 50, a good full hour off.

I asked the 'Smile Assistant' on the gate and she said it was a pure guess, and I'm thinking with the ride running one day previously, it's fair enough.

Current queue time is advertised at 2 hours. I'll update with actual time taken once ride is complete.

I think it will grow rapidly.
I arrived in the queue for 25 past nine, and it was up to the Towers. However, the main queue wasn't open at this point. If you take into account the fact I waited (queued) for 1h50, arriving at the queue before this will obviously be a shorter time. It's new so numbers won't be perfect but obviously, the earlier you arrive, the less time you'll wait.

As a rough idea the queue seems to be averaging 2 hours I think, which all things considered I don't think is bad :) It seems to move slowly at first due to the staggering they have to do to move people across X-Sector, and into the main ride queue. However, once in the actual queueline it seems to move quite quickly.

Getting in the queue early on is a good idea though. It means you can be one of the first people to ride it that day it still have time to do the other attractions at the rest of the day, before popping back over for one last run on it.

One thing they did on Friday though was close the queueline a bit early. Apparently they need to have the ride empty by 7-7:30ish so they can continue any work they need to do, so it's worth bearing that in mind if they still are doing so.

Apparently they only closed it early on friday as it was a soft opening - it stayed open until 6pm today, and still had a 75 minute queue even then.

Though if its true it needs to be closed by 7:30 then that would make sense. As a 75 minute queue at ride close would take them to 7:15

Be interesting to see what they do if they have a huge queue at the end of the day though.

That has to be applauded. I had assumed they would close the queue early for ride close. Similar to "last orders" at a bar lol! I would totally understand if they aimed much earlier to say 6:30 to be closed, so long as they advertised the fact of course.

Well done Towers. Definitely need to praise and acknowledge the things being done well, that is one of them for sure.

While waiting for the bus to leave at half seven on Friday, one staff member said there was still an hour queue for The Smiler!
