That's very very slow. The one on the left (in the video) is moving at a decent speed, the one on the right though looks like it wants to spin but can't quite be bothered to do it's job.
I'd say though that The Tickler is the most unimpressive arm. Which is a shame because the others are really nicely done and full of theming/life.

The Hypnotiser testing.
Looks quite good. Even though I want to see that middle one moving! Looks good nonetheless.

We'll disagree on that then James lol!!
Tickler - Awful, not sure whether I like the Hypno a little less, or a little less less.

The internet in Kenya is slow, but managed to catch a brief glimpse of the screen in action, and I must admit I'm pretty pleased with what I see. It doesn't look like we'll see the CCTV images on there that I really, really wanted, but it looks dystopian and twisted enough for my tastes!

Let's wait until they have finished testing, rather than judging them the first time they have even been turned on?
I highly doubt the tickler is supposed to move at that speed. Everybody can see it looks weak. They would have planned this effect carefully and will fix it hopefully.
All these effects are totally gratuitous and pointless anyway, that's why they are so fun.

I think it'll look brilliant with all of the effects working simultaneously as the trains go around the track. Granted, on their own the effects currently don't exactly look amazing...but in combination it will look very busy and will certainly be just as appealing to those watching as those riding.

I swear they were not there in the game?
From what I recall they were on poles both sides of the track?

Gosh, I am actually quite impressed at how closely what we're seeing in real life is mirroring the game and artwork that was released in the Daily Mail. Perhaps this 2 month delay has been a blessing in disguise - Merlin Arts certainly haven't got the excuse of being "time pressed" to get the thing fully themed.
Would love to see the moving CCTV cameras on there, though if they were stationary i'd still be pleased. Moving scenery, in my own opinion, is just something to stop moving/be broken in the future and never be fixed.

Alton Towers have replied to a comment on Facebook saying that they...
...referring to the opening date of The Smiler
So hopefully, that means we'll be getting a date next week at the latest!

Id like to see them move as well, its not really a difficult effect, just a simple motor which they've employed on several Marm elements already.
And yes, the detail of the game is staggering and actually gave some things away we didn't know about until a full reveal. The trains are identical for a start, right down to the Yellow OTSR and one thing I don't think anybody has pointed out yet is the riders: they're wearing the exact same uniform as the real life staff

This is my first post on the Smiler and I think the coaster looks great but all these arms with different things on them makes for a lot of maintenance and the water makes for the track and such looking worse for wear. And causes mould and grime which merlin are not great on the up keep.

The "Half Way Corrected" is different in the game, and I prefer it - the black on yellow on black provides a contrast those letters straight onto the concrete don't.
That's a shame.
Oh and nothing will ever make me say "wow, look at that rotating car wash brush".
Over all though very positive. Just a little disappointed some of the better contrasting elements have not found their way onto the real thing, which would have provided a nicer balance to that concrete.
Marketing is where it is as for me excitement wise right now though until this baby starts testing :twirly:

Well no, that's a pretty vague answer to be honest... They said in the next week or so, that could take us up to the 10-12 may. It probably will get announced some time in the next week or so, but you can't be sure of it definitely being announced within a week.

What it really means is that the person answering the Facebook comment doesn't really know anything.
They won't announce a date until cars are going around the track which I've heard has been delayed slightly.
As always don't shoot the messenger.
