Thats a bit smaller than I was expecting - It looks a bit like its wearing a party hat.
Hopefully some more theming will surround it!

Just turning away from the satellite dishes for a second.
But, that airtime hill looks amazing! Could provide an excellent head chopper!
Also, I'm getting more confident that this'll be ready by May. By the rate that the track is going up and the Marmaliser is being constructed, it's looking good for the May opening (It'll still be the end of May though)

It needs one of these next:
You can get them ready themed too.
This too though.

I just hope there is more theming to go around than just the 'maramliser'
I hear what people say about it being too early to criticise it yet as it's not the complete model, but I'm finding it more and more disappointing as a centrepiece for the ride. It looks a mess and is dwarfed by the ride, which is the complete opposite of what they intend

My big worry about this ride is that the only theming will be the Marmaliser and the Van (they have built a concrete space for the Van so it looks like it's coming.
They need theming elements around the site too.

For those who don't like the look of The Marmaliser, go see it in person! I can't stress enough how brilliant it looks when you're standing in the area looking up at it. It stands out as a key element in the area and does not blend in with the track at all in person.
Pictures will never do it justice. I really hate how it looks in pictures. It lacks of detail, blends in too well, is not imposing, looks pretty ugly... but after seeing it in park, standing there in X Sector all of those opinions of mine have now been thrown out the window. It's the opposite of what the photos are giving out.
It stands out, it looks imposing, the detail on it so far is pretty impressive - for me, this will become an iconic piece of theming at Alton Towers.

I'm sorry but this whole marmaliser is turning into a kind of "how many pieces of tat can we cover this thing in to make up for our lack of creative abilties" scenario to be quite honest.
I mean come on...TV satellite dishes stuck on a cheap steel frame? Where is the creativity, fantasy or escapism in that? I will half expect replies of "its great it fits with the theme" exactly what was said with Sub-Terra but the truth be told it really is just lazy.
I'm afraid that pieces of steel frame stuck together with bits of yellow painted things stuck on was never going to make for an amazing piece of theming. Sure, the sheer size of the thing and interaction with the track with still be great but from a thematic perspective this is scraping the barrel.

I suppose you are right, we can't judge proprly until its totally finished and viewed in the flesh.
I am actually starting to like the legs now they are adding the detailing to the joints, but the body is just an eyesore, especially with that thing stuck on top. It still needs work.
Dave said:If it looks like that when it finished Chris I will agree with you, but theming doesn't float in midair and has to be attached to something so I will await its completion before deciding.

And thats exactly what it will get. Because its not finished.

Those who don't like it, don't be afraid to voice your opinions.
People are moaning because they are worried by the direction it is taking, the thing about this ride as James says, is that it is hard to get your head around without standing near it. That is true, hence I am not judging what it will be like within the theme they have chosen.
Some here just don't like that theme though, and no amount of yellow stick on accessories will make it look anything less like a giant Kinder Surprise toy.
To avoid confusion, I like it in it's context, but not based on what direction they suggested.
Seems to create confusion in here that I can like and not like it at the same time.

How do you know that exactly Fred?
You voice criticism about this lately, and you get quite a lot of nonsense back at times. Not everyone is as forthright with their opinions as you and I are.
Maybe I take time to speak to quieter members out of the beady eyes of the main threads?

If I'm being honest, I just find the whole idea of a marmaliser and marmalisation very silly, and not in a good way. I can't take it seriously at all and cringe a bit whenever I hear the term. I hope they don't over-do the theming as the actual track structure is very aesthetically pleasing in my opinion and I don't want it to be spoiled and covered up by 'crap'. Just a couple of my feelings at the moment.

look at the smiley
we really need a more obvious sarcasm smiley....
There's been plenty people bashing the aesthetics, considering it's a fashion to bash Merlin, I would have thought it's more nerve racking to compliment the product rather than bash it.

Sorry mate, long day lol!
I think previous to this incarnation of the ride, complimenting it was more difficult, though it's swinging a bit again now, when this new version (compared to original concept) came out - there was a huge shift from not liking the name etc, thinking it was a bit dull, to loving it. Though as the updates get posted it shifts again.
I will change my thoughts and opinions as it builds of course, still prefer the original suggested ideas with it being far more sinister than this is, yet this one has a great charm about it too - just not for the right reasons I don't think, given what could be done.
I appreciate that other people don't like it, or do like it, when those people realise it is simply a matter of opinions taste and preference - and expressing that preference in an opinion different to your own (not you, in general) does not instantly equate to moaning.
That needs to stop, and that is where the problem arises for more quiet posters.
When it went less serious, many more liked it, Merlin have done that right in my opinion, as demonstrated by on here.
