According to TPM, X has reopened with a new IMAscore dance version of the island theme.

Thats good news! I hope they one day they pump refreshing smells into it as it just has that smell of x:/nwo that takes you back years when you used to go round the q for 10 minutes. Its that bit just after the bag drop thats a mix of teenage sweat, break dust and [insert smell here].

There was always going to be a major coaster at Thorpe in 2020. It will be their turn for a major CAPEX investment in 2020 and 8 years on from their last coaster, The Swarm.

If they've not chosen a site yet though then I doubt they have made a final decision on a coaster type. I'm hoping for something with airtime as that is what the UK really lacks at present.

:)

I'm hoping for an Intamin megalite as I'm sure Merlin won't want a true hyper coaster which eclipses stealth, or depending on SW8's success a nice big wooden coaster or even an RMC with the new t-rex track.

It always amazes me how much the enthusiast community want a Mega Lite when at the same time we complain about clones and capacity.

B&M Junior hyper or RMC iron horse is what that park needs. Reasonable ride time, capacity, reliable and iconic.

I would love a Megalite in the UK, but not at Thorpe. Capacity is just not good enough. (Would be perfect for Flamingoland though on the site of the Corkscrew)

What Thorpe need is a coaster with decent capacity and to be good and fun. That's it. No gimmicks, no worlds first, just a great coaster, whatever that may be.

Me personally? I would love an Intamin air time machine (with trains bigger than a megalite !!). I personally don't particularly like the RMC Iron Horse coasters, although a topper track woodie would be nice.

Wouldn't say no to an RMC. Although if SW8 is a big success (which is a bit of a longshot, but it could happen), then maybe a traditional woodie? If it's steel then no inversions please.

Personally I'd go for a B&M hyper.

As has already been mentioned we need a great airtime machine and there's nothing more tried and tested than a B&M. There's nothing like it in the UK. The straight out and back layout would perfectly follow the old railway line (perhaps combine the station with Nemesis Inferno to save space and cost on theming). Most importantly they have amazing capacity which would do wonders for Thorpe Park.

Failing that a Mack Mega, RMC or Intamin equivalent would also be wonderful.

Given no ride manages to actually improve attendance at Thorpe...

I do wonder what their goal is for Thorpe's attendance, you would think the size of the market should mean it would easily crack 2 million, but I think it only has done so once or twice?

Not that we have accurate attendance numbers very often. I think the 'order' that the TEA report shows is correct, but their numbers for RTP were 500,000 down on what Merlin reported in 2016, so either they're underestimating on all or way off one one or two.

A B&M hyper would be amazing, but would there be enough space to fit in a good layout at Thorpe? Also doesn't the MTDP state they aren't going to build a ride longer than 850m?
