Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Re: Thorpe Park

Really not sure whether I want to go down for frights nights its a great park but it seems its going be fairly busy due to some major rides been currently unavailable

Re: Thorpe Park

I do hope nothing serious has happened to colossus, it's my favourite ride! But stealth is slow launching probably in prepiration for fright nights, so it has less of a chance of breaking down.

Stealths fixed now seemed to be launching fine the other day anyway :)

Hopefully Colossus / Slammer will be the next 2 back.

Its been pretty busy the last few weekends if anyones thinking of going, i think all but one day of them have been extended till 6pm close.

Re: Thorpe Park

Going this sunday for Fright Nights, have to say I am anticipating huge queues. Do you think they will get Slammer open in time? it is a queue eater and I do enjoy it. Also booked my ticket for The Passing and judging by the website... looks absolutley horendous, especially when you have claustrophbia. I will post a little review and pictures on Monday :)

Re: Thorpe Park

First time I've heard Slammer described as a queue eater, but it is looking like it is going to be back in action.

I don't think queues will be too bad on the first Sunday.

I look forward to hearing about The Passing.

Re: Thorpe Park

Slammer is a queue eater, because it makes people wait for ages whilst it goes around...

Not heard anything more about it being open though... Ever since that testing photo it's all gone quiet...

Thorpe Park

So, initial reactions to The Passing seem unanimously poor, as I was expecting, though hopefully Experiment 10 and Asylum will continue at their high standard :) (With The CURSE being the lamentable embarrassment it's been since the year it opened :p)

ThorpeNerd live have reported some kind of serious incident seems to have occurred on Storm Surge, though - not good! :(

Well, given that yesterday was the first time I've ever done the Curse, I can't really comment, but the people I was with (who are Fright Nights veterans) stated that it was a great improvement from previous years.

I certainly thought it was quite good :)

Re: Thorpe Park

Curse was much improved compared to last year with lots more actors. Asylum was ok but lacking the usual finale left it a little flat for me. Experiment 10 was much the same as last year ending excepted which really didn't add that much imo. Queue moved very slowly so be warned. The Passing was different and I did enjoy it although it wld not suit anyone who is claustrophobic. Could have been much more though I expect it to improve with time. Didn't do Saw alive given the solid 60 min queue all evening. Lots of roaming actors in the Saw area after dark which was very good, kind of made it a mini scare zone. Park generally quiet with most rides being walk on for significant periods during the day.

Re: Thorpe Park

Oh, forgot to mention that Slammer was testing at around 5.15 today whilst we were waiting for the Passing so looks as though the park are making every effort to get it open soon

We did the Asylum twice on Thursday, first time it had its standard ending (which I really didn't enjoy...), second time it didn't. Given I found the maze as a whole rather dull (such a shame, given how much I loved the entrance corridor!), it made our second run through rather bland indeed.

Should've also mentioned how AWESOME Swarm is in the dark, with the fire effect working :D. Really, really enjoyed it, though I enjoy Swarm anyway. What made it (in both an epic and surreally-bizarre way) though was the piping of Steps music over the PA, and the hosts and op dancing along. Dispatching whilst the op on the bridge was doing the chorus of Tragedy was a sight I'll never forget :p

Very Halloweeny... Seems that according to some reports Thorpe's first day of their Halloween event wasn't very Halloweeny... Weird... Not that Thorpe have ever been that big on the park-wide themeing during the event, but still... Music?

No mention of Storm Surge's incident here though, odds on that staying shut over Fright Nights? Just when it looked like things would improve with Samurai being rebuilt and Slammer testing...

Re: Thorpe Park

Staff were reporting that someone got their leg trapped between the platform and the conveyor. The ride didn't reopen (though the 'tap' effect was left running).

No full TR from me as I'm exhausted (been up since 4:45am), suffice to say I enjoyed the 3 mazes I did (Curse, Passing, E10) and got a ride + maze count of 52.

Re: Thorpe Park

Well I am going on the 30th, it will probably be ram packed. ??? But I will try to ride as much as possible
and hope colossus is fixed!

All rides are open apart from Samurai, which was put back together today.

Re: Thorpe Park

Was at Thorpe Park today and I can gladly say that Slammer is now back in operation, it broke down a couple of times but never the less the staff got it up and working as quick as possible.
