Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Re: Thorpe Park

It'd be great now if they revealed that the back seat had been made 4D so it could rotate fully 360 degrees. I'm sure no one would be trash talking them then :p

Re: Thorpe Park

That would certainly be a twist in the tale, but considering it's B&M, hard to guess if it would be a full blown 4D situation...

The two other coasters really confuse matters...

Re: Thorpe Park

Why Thorpe, why!

On another note, some people on Facebook commenting on the photo are saying 'Oh yeah, that's the Swarm' or 'Is that the Swarm?'. *facepalm*

Isn't it kinda obvious from the picture?! :p

Re: Thorpe Park

I must admit I am sort of excited that Swarm *May* turns backwards. However it doesn't make any sense. One of the main points of Swarm is that its near misses, but you won't even be able to see them because you're travelling backwards. It's a bit of a waste as well, a 1 year old B&M Wingrider is a getting treatment over a 17 year old Vekoma in the dark which it's been dying for a major overhaul for a good few years now.

Bit a stupid decision from Thorpe, but I'm not fuss over it and I'm looking forward to riding it =)

Re: Thorpe Park

I still think B&M are testing reaction to different riding angles on different coasters. If people don't react well to backwards facing B&Ms, expect 4D to come out different to S&S or be ditched.

I don't think they will be able to 4D Swarm, where is the tech? Seems a simple switch.

Hope they have one normal train/one reversed.

Made most of these points ages ago, but again, first drop, reversed watching the entire ride spin around will be incredible!

Do however think it will ruin the aesthetics of the cars, which is fantastic and imposing.

Near misses, will turn into things careering past you unexpectedly - will be differently thrilling.

Think it will look a bit daft though, and ruin the flow of it.

Swarm gets harsh stick here, how people can praise AIR and get on the back of this I have no idea. It is a fantastic ride, front row for me, the first time you twist into the loop is so unique and a real beauty of a feature.

I feel the love big time for Swarm, it is a fantastic creation, my only criticism since the off is I think the area is too open, a bit more enclosed could have encapsulated more atmosphere.

No! I hope they definitely do not do this - it will halve throughput and make wait times absolutely huge for those that haven't ridden yet and want the proper experience. It's ridiculous that they're even doing one row, especially the back which is considered the best.

Re: Thorpe Park

They're getting desperate with the plus points on that page:

Extreme near miss experiences + NEW near miss for 2013!

YOU CAN'T SEE THE NEAR MISSES IF YOU'RE BACKWARDS!

Apologies, I didn't mean the whole trains as that seems to read, just leaving one back row normal one reversed. A whole reversal would be ludicrous.

Re: Thorpe Park

Unless they are installing a piece of theming which creates a near miss just for the backwards rows?

Re: Thorpe Park

This is utterly hilarious, I can't believe they actually did it! It's like a joke request was sent into Thorpe and they went "PERFECT IDEA! REMOVE ALL THE BACKSEATS!".

Re: Thorpe Park

^ Neither can I Rowe!

God knows how the trains are going to look with the back row facing backwards - I like them as they are aha. Oh Thorpe... ::)

Re: Thorpe Park

So they're not only messing up the back row, they're also messing up the second to last too? Brilliant!

Not really possible... It's funny though how they advertise it as such though when it'll make no difference to the backwards people...

Stupid idea, for a stupid park... Just when you think the park will be improving, they decide to mess about with something that was fine...

Le sigh...

Re: Thorpe Park

They're installing a billboard of some sort that is apparently better for the backwards riders.

I still don't see the point in this, however. Why ruin a beautiful ride for an awful gimmick which wont even draw in the crowds?

Silly Thorpe...

Re: Thorpe Park

I can see that or something falling towards you as the train passes. Maybe the fire from the fire engine?

Re: Thorpe Park

COMPLETE AND UTTER CRINGE! Why waste money on ruining a new ride when there are so many rides that could do with an overhaul! They had better redo X to alter my opinion!

Re: Thorpe Park

So X is getting a re-theme as well, right..?

Plus that Photoshopped image makes it look like they are lying down rather than backwards :p

Re: Thorpe Park

Such an unnecessary move, although I can see why they've done it to save some money.

"OMG, IT NOW GOES BACKWARD!" The clientele will cry.

Re: Thorpe Park

NEW NEAR MISS FOR 2013!

Err. Right. *books tickets in blind panic*

:)
