Just out of curiousity, What's the capacity on The Swarm like these days? Surely that's Thorpe's highest throughput coaster (although nemesis inferno if ran properly would also be a people eater as proven by proper nemesis).I look forward to Thorpe Park building a great coaster, with a theoretical capacity of well over 1,000 per hour - but in actual fact they manage just about 700, and sell 300 an hour fastrack as the theming slowly rots over 10 years with no refurbishment.
I am excited, really I am - but you know... 15 years of Thorpe Park's shoddiness burns deep.

Aah I see, the FastTrack sales can clearly cause problems. So what you are saying is that if Thorpe reduced FastTrack sales there operations wouldn't be all that bad?Swarm is definitely the highest in the park - although I don't think it really gets the 1,200-1,300 it should on a consistent basis. I would say Swarm probably gets a typical throughput of 1,000 an hour.

Yes a Mack hyper would almost certainly be the highest capacity ride on park. As much as a B&M hyper would probably be an absolutely insane throughput Mack hypers aren't far behind. That is if it's operated correctly with all trains on the track.Both times I've tested Swarm, it's been around 950pph.
In my throughput tests at Thorpe (I've done it twice), Swarm came out on top at 950pph, Inferno & Stealth were joint 2nd, at around 850pph both times, while Saw tended to be around 700pph and Colossus tended to be around 600pph (hardest to call; it was 550pph one time, but 650pph another time).
My personal hunch is that this will almost definitely be Thorpe's highest capacity coaster. While they're not quite B&M Hypers, Mack coasters tend to have fairly strong throughputs (look at Europa, for one!), and based on the existing models, I could see a Mack Hyper having a solid 24-seat train!
One thing about a Mack hyper is that it would likely only have 2 trains, and less people per train. I'm afraid to say not a lot. This ride is going to cost a fortune and I doubt Merlin will put anything else in anytime soon. They may do some repainting or whatever but I don't see many if any new attractions coming before this ride opens.If this opens in 2024, what are the odds of Thorpe using the next 2 years to sort the park out to make it a bit more worthy of what appears to be a great investment? You never know; private Merlin does seem to be focusing on different priorities to a degree, and with the rumour of TWD possibly getting rethemed for 2022, they could possibly be trying to diversify the lineup a touch.I'm afraid to say not a lot. I haven't seen Wet Wet Wet open for years, it has quite a short operating calendar and it doesn't seem to manage that.I'm not sure how much we can read into it right now, but following on from the announcment of Old Town's closure, both the Timber Tug Boat and Rocky Express have been removed from Thorpe's website.
The Lumber Jump is still there, so I guess that gives us an indication about which of the Old Town rides might be relocated elsewhere next year.
Interestingly Wet Wet Wet has also now been removed.

I feel removal is the best option really. It ruins the flow of the park, when you enter you come abruptly to a walkway overlooking the beach with no obvious way to proceed to the rest of the park.The whole beach area either needs a proper overhaul to make it into a small waterpark with the right changing facilities and everything or just removal really.
