Thorpe Park: General Discussion

The worst part was the car park at the end of the day though - it's always bad but genuinely never seen it that bad. The drop & collect was all completely gridlocked (even with the barriers just completely open) and cars queuing all down the neighbouring roads to get into it. It got so bad that in the end most people ended up walking out of the car park and onto the road to meet their cars. Chaos!
Thorpe really do need to do something about their parking/drop off system, it's like that every single year. I left at 6:30 yesterday mainly because I wanted to get out of the car park before the massive queues built up.

Another thing, which probably won't ever change, but the behaviour of some of the guests who Thorpe attracts never fails to amaze me. So many areas of the park that absolutely stunk of weed, saw many many people openly smoking it in queues and talking about it.
I 100% agree with this. People smoking/vaping absolutly everywhere. As someone who has fairly significant issues with my lungs, I do occasionally get slightly worried waiting in ride queues because of the amount of cigarette/vape smoke I'm breathing in.

I also saw a boy (probabaly aged about 16-19) trying to push his way into the queue for Survival Games without a ticket when I was in the queue. He got stopped by the member of staff checking tickets but kept on pushing through and going under the barriers. The staff member then walked up to him and stood infront of him to stop he going further and asked for a ticket again. He then got up in the staff members face said "why aren't you letting me in, you're just being racist" or something along those lines trying to suggest that the reason he wasn't being allowed in was due to the staff member being racist instead of him not having a ticket. Suprisingly enough, once the staff member threatened to call security and remove him from the park he disappeared rather quickly...

It is a shame that people think that they can do what they want and abuse the staff members who did nothing wrong. Personally, I believe that anyone who does something like this should just be kicked out of the park straight away, but then I guess there is no way to monitor this, short of giving all the staff bodycams or something silly.

Does anyone have any throughput data for ninferno?

I’ve always wondered why Nemmy Reborn seems to always be a crowd muncher, yet inferno always gets one of the longest lines at thorpe park.

Surely the 7 rows wouldn’t make that much of a difference compared to the 8 rows on nemesis

It's slow operations more than anything, Inferno shouldn't stack but it usually does. In recent years I've seen some operations tell guests that the train will leave in 30 seconds regardless of whether they are on it, that usually has the desired effect.

Hmm... People getting in the way of the bag boxes is a big culprit.

Usually because the airgates open very quickly after restraints are released.

Opening hours for the 2025 have been released already.

https://www.thorpepark.com/plan-your-visit/before-you-visit/opening-times/

- Season will start on Friday 28th March and end on Sunday 2nd November.
- Continuation of 5pm closes for off peak weekdays, 6pm for holidays and every weekend.
- Couple of closed Wednesdays during April and May but they were very quiet this year.
- 7pm closes throughout the summer holidays and every Saturday from mid June.
- September has a couple of closed Wednesdays.
- Park will be closed in October except for Fright Night dates + Thurs 2nd which will likely be press night. Fright nights has the exact same amount of nights and structure to 2024.

Overall, they're pretty good and very similar to this years apart from some extra closed days, which were all very quiet this year. Its good to see they haven't been cut with the uncertainty around merlin at the moment. Of course they are subject to change but I've never seen Thorpe reduce their opening hours once published.

I would love to see the return of some 9pm closes in summer and 10pm for Fright Nights, or even trial a later opening and closing time for Fright Nights so we have more time in the dark.

That seems pretty good despite some cuts compared to this year, I thought this year we were getting a lot more opening days than usual which is likely due to the Hyperia opening this year.

It does seem to be a late opening although could this be hope for a passholders day?

It's a good idea to have some closures with the random "scheduled" closures during off peak dates. It would give engineers the opportunity to maintain the rides and not have to close rides when it's open.

I'd love to see later openings for Fright Nights and on the closed days, it might work if they did slightly earlier closures on the off peak dates like Alton Towers did for Scarefest (I'd honestly rather have a quieter day with slightly earlier closures than go on a really busy day if possible).

I'm hoping these closures will mean the park can offer a better experience as a result.

Yeah they definitely had more opening days than usual this year. Can understand why some of these Wednesdays will be closed as they were completely dead, especially in April and May before Hyperia opened. October non Fright Night weekdays are always completely dead too.

Season does start slightly later than usual yes, but thats in line with the later than usual Easter Holidays. The park will open 1 week before that which is the same as this season.

Passholders day would be nice, but Thorpe have definitely cut back on these which is a shame. They tend to have a few buyout days pre season now too.

Absolutely nothing, from what I've seen so far. I'll see if I can spot something when I go past it later.
Wonder if anything is happening on the Beach today as it’s ‘the last beach party’ on the deadbeat posters
From a recent event, I understand that it's an easter egg there as part of Deadbeat's theming similar to some of the posters in Trailers like Tutu's Revenge.

There doesn't seem to be anything going on the beach right now other than the groundwork that's been happening over the last couple of weeks.

The talk came from the fact that there were pictures of digging being done on the beach a couple of weeks back.

Perhaps that digging was for something more trivial, and that poster is just a windup? Who knows, really?

I went to Thorpe today for Fright Nights.
Survival Games had a new pre-show, which seemed pointless.
There were not many actors, and I was only grabbed once.
Scares: 5/10
Fun Factor: 5/10
Actors: 5/10
Theming: 4/10
Storyline: 5/10
Total: 24/50

Deadbeat's queue line was better than the maze, due to the brilliant EDM playing. Deadbeat was also lacking actors, although there was one novel moment with an actor above where you are walking.
Scares: 4/10
Fun Factor: 5/10
Actors: 5/10
Theming: 2/10
Storyline: 3/10
Total: 19/50

Trailers was much improved from last year. It certainly wasn't 'pathetic', which is what I described it as in 2023. I genuinely enjoyed the Platform 15-themed room. The actors were actually trying, which was good to see.
Scares: 6/10
Fun Factor: 6.5/10
Actors: 7/10
Theming: 4/10
Storyline: 3.5/10
Total: 27/50

I also did The Crows of Mawkin Meadow, which seemed very short. I feel like it peaked in 2022.
