Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Re: Thorpe Park

They had some trees. They chopped them down.

The £5 parking thing is an outrage, but if you stay after park close and have a drink or your dinner in bar360 the barriers are up after about an hour and a half. Worth considering as the M25 should have calmed down by then too.

Don't know if it has been mentioned here but they are currently doing an annual pass for the price of a day ticket, I picked one up yesterday. Goes to show what a joke this whole discount voucher pricing structure is but is also a pretty good deal in itself.

Re: Thorpe Park

I do not mind car parking charges applied in a car park.

I do however mind car parking charges applied on the gravel quagmires at Thorpe.

Ludicrous.

Re: Thorpe Park

But thats all six flags is. A huge car park littered with rides. Not a theme park which Thorpe park has at least some claim to be... :I My dad always sneaks onto the concrete parking spaces no matter what. :p

Re: Thorpe Park

I know this is off topic but after visiting Six Flags Great Adventure I tend to feel the need to defend Six Flags. They have a reputation of building car park coasters etc but Great Adventure is really much nicer than that. Sure it's not a themed paradise but I was impressed considering the reputation they do have!

:)

Re: Thorpe Park

I don't think we (in the UK) can really take the moral high ground here. $25 is around £16, which happens to be the price of "preferred" parking at Alton Towers.

Agreed, I have been to three Six Flags parks and a lot of their rides / areas are far more themed than a lot of UK offerings including areas of Thorpe / Alton etc.
Parking in SFMM is now $18 which is steep compared to what we have to pay as standard. It just seems to becoming the norm now to increase the parking costs over here now.

Re: Thorpe Park

I believe parking was £2 when it was introduced at Thorpe (was that 2010 or 11? then it went up to £3 and £4 very quickly. Give it another year and it will be in line with Towers.

Was that for a TP AP?

It was a TP Annual pass yeah, not sure how long the offers on for.

Was on park yesterday was nice to see the park busy again, the nice weather obviously helps and they extended ride close too for a few of the bigger rides.

Re: Thorpe Park

WHERE DO I SIGN??!

Is this an indication that Thorpe are getting it together?! They're beginning to shame Alton!

Re: Thorpe Park

It's certainly an interesting idea... which I would very much be up for!

Re: Thorpe Park

Limited number of guests and bargain prices don't really fit together.

I expect for it to not be limited in guests or for it to be far too expensive.

Re: Thorpe Park

Might be testing the waters to consider longer opening through the summer!

Finally! It says something when Im more impressed with Thorpes guest-service this season compared to Altons!

Re: Thorpe Park

Ride Rater have published an article about BBC One's 'Your Money Their Tricks' show which focuses on Thorpe Park fixing their game stalls. More great publicity for one of Merlin's attractions here. Can't really say I'm shocked about this revelation, but there you go. :p

Re: Thorpe Park

"But the BBC decided to ignore much of this information and has therefore presented a biased and incorrect view of the games."

LOL!

Well, it's publicity for HB Leisure and Merlin which they'll love :p

It was TP AP, and I got a full years one too. Since then Thorpe have confirmed to TPM the deal will be available until at least the end of July with the slight change that the AP for the standard day ticket price will be until the end of the 2013 season only, or for £10 extra you get the full 12 months. Still pretty good!
