I think that they want to keep a part secret, as a surprise.
I'm also surprised that there is still no opening date, or even an expected date for it to open.
I now doubt that it will be running for the summer season.

I'm not sure how it works, but could the Gerst workers at Alton be needed at Tripsdrill to start building this? Perhaps there was a delay at the factory which has had a knock-on effect?
I have to say, going by that model, this ride looks fairly mediocre. Here's to hoping the other half is better.

hmm, how do I explain Tripsdrill to someone who hasn't been their... :-\
You really need to think of Tripsdrill as less of a Theme Park in the typical sense and more like a living museum (a Themed Park). What's important about their attractions is that they represent something Germanic and so it's not about the ride itself but its role in the park.
For me this model highlights that they are staying to the same quaint style of the rest of the park. The station blends seamlessly like a rocky hill (the rocks probably blending with the nearby rapids) and they are expanding quite a bare section of the park with new toilets and a restaurant that match the existing structures.
I think the announcement also has something to do with the Catapult theme and showing off that the ride will have a dark ride section. Based on the little pre-lift and final drop on Mammut that dark ride bit should be something to look forward too
