Looking good so far! I really hope they're going to clean up all the electrodes and the fences around the drop zone, and replace some of the broken and rusted wire cables in the fences around the drop. It'll look brilliant :D

I was just about to say the same! The electrodes to me are the most important theming around that drop, and I'm sure the lights fixed to them have been broke for some time now, I hope they get cleaned up and the light replaced, also whilst they're fixing them they could also do the one on the X-Sector entrance, and reinstate that scrolling LED message panel that used to be fixed below the sign.

I wish they would bring back the original style electrodes, the smart glass ones (pic below) that pulsated in sync with each other instead of the randomly flashing plastic ones we have now!

The problem with the old flashing beacons was the difficulty in changing the bulbs, and also water getting into the casings. I remember when the new red strobes were installed - AT got a lot of praise as it had been years since any flashing had been going on around the hole, so to speak. :D

I must admit though (bit geeky) the old beacons did have cool science fiction feel about them compared to the current ones which you see on top of vehicles across the UK.

I prefer the random flashing! Think its better than all in sequence but that's a personal preference!

Agree with you Snorlix! Not really bothered, whether they flash randomly or in sequence it still looks good.

This has just been posted by Inside The Towers Network on Facebook:

image removed as it has been posted online without permission

Looks like the Oblivion re-paint is well underway :) looks awesome!

EDIT: Sorry for my stupidity, I'll think twice about posting pictures from Facebook pages from now on... ::)

I thought that was the breakrun but just realised... It's the top!

Wow, it looks so dark and evil, it should have been satin all along.

Guys, we are not going to allow for the Oblivion repaint image to be posted on our forums as it wasn't meant to be shared online and has been done so without permission of the copyright holder.

Ooops, I feel stupid now. I had assumed that the Facebook page I found it on had permission to have that online... ::) Thanks for removing it though Chris :)

Why do they want to keep pictures of an existing ride repainted a secret?

They do not want it kept secret.

The Facebook page linked to has been posting pictures taken at Towers in the theme park during closed season without the permission of the copyright holder (there was a rather nice one on there of Nemesis the other day). So because of that these images aren't allowed to be shared (obviously unless the copyright holder has said they are happy for them to be shown).

Looks like whoever manages that Facebook page has been rumbled, as a load of pictures have now gone from their page.

We respect people's copyright, as if people use my copyrighted material I'd expect them to also not use my property without permission.

But anyway, we should probably get back on topic...

Has AT confirmed if any of X-Sector will be open come the 16th?

I phoned the park booking line as I have a hotel booked for late march. I asked the booking agent will X-sector be open from March or from the opening of the Smiler. She said that they don't think X-sector will be open until the Smiler opens. So looks like no oblivion until May

I wouldn't completely take the word of the people on the phones, although if that is the case then oh dear oh dear oh dear! They surely cannot open the park for near enough 2 months with one of their headline coasters closed? That would be disastrous for several reasons and an entry fee reduction would be essential in my eyes.

:)

This is awful! =( Now Nemesis and Air and gonna have heavy queues during Feb half term

I'm glad they are closing X-Sector until The Smiler opens. Means they can relaunch the entire area with the new coaster come May. As long as they make the closure clear on the website.

:)
