Your Top Ten Coasters

I did it twice on front, and 10 or 11 times in other positions!

It's just a shame that from the second inversion to the end wasn't quite as good as what went before. It's as if it got to the MCBR location and they realised "damn, we need to get back to the station".

If it had kept up that wild first 2/3 all the way through, I reckon it would be my top coaster.
 
1. Blue Fire - Europa Park. Atmosphere, intensity (or not so much but, enjoyable intensity) and swag! ;) Beautiful ride, in a beautiful park, in a beautiful country!

2. Nemesis - Alton Towers. Don't Think I need to say any more here.

3. Eurosat - Europa Park. Out of control, stupidly intense at times. I love how the entire ride just gets faster and faster until you're left crippled in the brake run. Ridiculously good ride.

4. Silver Star - Europa Park. The only Airtime machine I've ridden. Last time I visited I chickened out for some reason, which says it all really. Great fun, and very intimidating!

5. Saw - Thorpe Park. Now, the thing about this ride, while it is in my least favourite place in the world (which brings down it's rating) it is a solid ride, if not a little short. The queue is quite fun and the indoor section is great! My only issue is every time I ride it I feel like I've missed something. Maybe it is due to its length I don't know, but it is a good ride none the less.

6. Euro Mir - Europa Park. The lift hill... the lift hill! <3 Oh my! Good fun all round.

7. Oblivion - Alton Towers. I have only ridden this once, as it scares me still. But wow what a ride when I did it. A massive rush to enjoy. Shall ride it again eventually, but we'll see.

8. Colossus - Thorpe Park. While it's aged horribly, and rides horrifically it's still a pretty good ride. Bumpy, exciting, and very consistent.

9. Th13teen - Alton Towers. Pretty solid ride on the back. Lots of airtime. Love the throughput too!

10. Nemesis Inferno - Thorpe Park. Fairly good inverted coaster. Pretty intense, just a shame it dies down toward the end.

I need to visit more parks in Europe...
 
My revised top 10.


1,2,3. It is a tough one deciding what my number one coaster is, but here are the options.

Expedition Geforce: A brilliant ride, on track and layout alone it is clearly number one. at the back it is a phenomenal experience. The staff operation and capacity is just awful though, but I won't penalize the ride experience because of that, Even though this ride is so good, I can see so much to be improved though, Which I will explain later after my next two top coasters.

Blue Fire: As a full package this ride is amazing. The queue line is stunning as you get sweeping views of probably the most photogenic coaster out there! The sound track in the station just get's you exited and ready to go, and if you are lucky enough to get a seat where you can hear the onboard soundtrack it is probably my number 1, but the speakers seem to be really inconsistant, The shear epic feeling you have as you hear the soundtrack on the break run and the smile on your face as you are going round is priceless, as a full package it's fantastic. The operation's is amazing, 4 trains with barely any stacking. I was awestruck watching the staff work!

Nemesis: This is a tough one for me to rate, I have been on the ride so many time's that the magic of this beast sometimes seems to whither and fade on some recent visits. But I occasionally get that one ride which just reminds me why this is my favourite! The soundtrack around the area creating an amazing creepy ambience, and is the only ride to have created spots in my vision! (only one ride has done that though!) the atmosphere is dark and brooding and being a metal fan I love it! XD

Now if Holiday park would put a bit of funding on theming EGF's station area, EGF would win by miles, I know they are capable of it as there are some nicely themed gems in the park. an epic soundtrack to get you in the mood similar to Blue Fire to replace the dance music, Perhaps some more music on the lift hill, and of-course a finale piece to play on the break run! It would be much better then Blue Fire.


On to the remainder of my list! :)

4. Eurosat. After the insane speed and OMFG I THINK I'M GOING TO DIE feeling I got from my recent trip this has jumped up to number 5. It was ridicously intense in very hot weather with the trims deciding to be off! I still remember all the TST'ers going "...and trim's.... oh wait! SO FAST!"

5. Wodan: It has now got going very very fast! I enjoyed it in April, but now... Wow.

6. The Swarm: I love the ride personally. The ambience in the area is great, the bass line pumping around the area. I still need to ride it with fire effects, but that can only improve the experience.

7. Oblivion: The drop and plummet into the dark abyss still leaves my speechless every time. even though it's short, it does it's job very well.

8. Rock 'n' Rollercoaster avec Aerosmith: Love the ride, Love Aerosmith, need to get back to Didneyland!

9. Silver Star: It's a fun ride, but something seemed wrong on my recent visit. It didn't have the same "WOW" factor, perhaps it was because I had been on EGF beforehand, but I didn't enjoy it as much.

Sylvia was running slower than at any stage in the past 5 years in my view, last week. Not sure why, but it seemed to be slow.

Having never ridden it before, I did notice it to be a bit slow. On Sunday afternoon, when I was going over the airtime hills, I found it to be much slower than I'd expected. Still, I love it as a coaster. :)

Yes, it was still fun and enjoyable. Just it didn't have the pace that it has of late.
 
What about the dreaded trims of doom on Silver Star?

I would post mine, butttttt I'll wait for my trip to Europa next month... I do expect it to change (or at least have one new entrant in there), so might as well wait and see if the B&M Invert 3 can be demoted...

Anyway, my top 10.

1. Silver Star, Europa-Park
Silver Star was my first hypercoaster, and my first coaster at EP. The lift hill's pretty long, but it's only when you stand under it (oh, yes, you can do that) that you really appreciate its size. As for my thought on it? Well, no coaster I have ever been on before has left me speechless after getting off it. The amount of airtime is insane! It's a breathtaking coaster in the day, and it looks truly wonderful at night with the lift hill lit up. As it was apparently running slower than expected, I'm expecting it to be even more crazy when I return to EP at some point in the future.

2. Blue Fire, Europa-Park
Only just pipped to the number 1 slot by Silver Star, Blue Fire is amazing. The launch is so smooth, the restraints extremely comfortable, it's well-themed. And that last inversion... *drools* The last inversion seals it for me as a favourite coaster. I might have ended up screaming 'I love you, Roland!' before entering the first inversion on at least one occasion.

3. Nemesis, Alton Towers
Before May of this year, Oblivion was my favourite coaster at Alton Towers. Upon riding Nemmy's front row for the first time, and finally appreciating the intensity of that helix after the first inversion elevated it to my favourite AT coaster, and my then-favourite coaster overall. After going to EP next week, it's been pushed down to third. Still, I love it a lot.

4. Oblivion, Alton Towers
It's been looking a bit tired for a while, but I do still have a huge place in my heart for Oblivion. It may be a bit short, but I don't mind - it still packs a punch.

5. Wodan, Europa-Park
The last woodie I went on was Magnus Colossus at Terra Mítica, and it genuinely gave me back pain whenever I rode it. That was three years ago, but even so, I was a little apprehensive about going on another woodie, even if it was completely new. I was genuinely amazed by Wodan. Much, much smoother, and it really is an excellent coaster. Could do with being a bit longer, though.

6. Euro-Mir, Europa-Park
A good coaster. Very good throughputs, and the trains are comfortable. A bit rough in places, dependent on the direction in which you're facing. Still, lift hill raves FTW. :D

7. Dragon Khan, PortAventura
I went on this several months before I went on Nemesis and the other big coasters at Alton Towers, and it was, at the point I went on it, my favourite coaster. I have nothing bad to say about DK, other than that there are other coasters which I find to be better.

8. Alpenexpress, Europa-Park
Roland's original love train. :p Better, in my view, than RMT at Towers. And the smell when going through Diamond Mine...Mmmm...

9. Stampida, PortAventura
For a woodie of its age (constructed in the mid-1990s by a now-defunct company) , I found both of Stampida's tracks to be quite good. Still, not as good as other coasters.

10. Inferno, Terra Mítica
An Intamin ZacSpin that's quite intense, and probably the best coaster there. Then again, their other coasters are an awfully rough woodie - which I have previously mentioned - and an SLC. :p It is rather short, though, but saves an awful lot of space, so would be perfect for parks with little room to develop.
 
1) Nemesis - nothing to be said, incredible intensity over the whole ride coupled with smoothness, great landscaping and brilliant transitions

2) Montu - incredibly intense, especially the batwing which is one of the most insane elements I've ever ridden through

3) Incredible Hulk - best start to a coaster ever, the zero-G after the launch is just brilliant followed by a surprisingly intense cobra roll

4) Kraken - prefer this to Kumba simply because it is more compact and to me has a far better first drop and sequence of elements - especially the diving loop which is one of my favourites. Also the floorless element makes it more intense for me due to being so exposed

5) Kumba - amazing, the interlocking corkscrews are brilliant and the whole thing is a classic early B&M intense all out ride. It really hasn't aged well presumably with huge noise and slight roughness on the trains, especially at the back where it is near uncomfortable

6) Space Mountain - didn't think I'd like this but it's really intense and the darkness only adds to it. Also one of the best coasters for feeling like your head is going to come off!

7) Sheikra - far, far better than Oblivion. The drop is huge, absolutely terrifying and the immelman following it is really intense. This is what Oblivion should have been like had there been more space and more budget

8) Manta - don't like Air however this was a hundred times better. The pretzel loop is surprisingly forceful and the layout is inspired. Perhaps less a ride for those that like the feeling of flight and more for thrillseekers

9) Revenge of the Mummy - amazing theming, great launch and great ride all round. There is a brilliant bit of airtime in the middle that you don't expect from an indoor coaster. My favourite indoor ride.

10) Cheetah Hunt - really enjoyable if not really not particularly thrilling. Airtime all around and the launches are really enjoyable, especially the second one up the hill which really gives you a huge burst of ejector. Smooth as silk as well, great layout and only let down by the pointless restraints.
 
1.Colossus,Just the sheer amount of inversions and the barrel roll sequence,the bunny hop after the loop give me some airtime as I am not an adult yet, along with a slight theme,It was also my first ever coaster.
2.The swarm,The gracefulnessof the ride,amazing theming and the first drop is what makes it so good.
3.Oblivion,The sheer drop and the holding brake gets me every time.First coaster at Alton towers
4.Nemesis,No need to explain.
5.Stealth,The speed of the launch and the height combined with a lovely view at the top and a pop of airtime at the end.
6.Saw:the ride,the first small drop inside and the outside drop make it special and a funny video of me and my mate on the ride.
7.air, nice and graceful,A good lyout and the flying sensation make it a good coaster
8.Dragons fury.I love this ride as it is really quite fun.
9.Nemesis inferno althought many think it is rubbish compared to nemesis,it is acctually quite good and intense.
10. Th13teen,Although it didnt live up to my expectations the drop part was quite fun as no-one shouted that it was going to drop.
 
Mine isn't that valid due to the small number of international parks i've been too, but nonetheless.. :p

1. Wild Mouse, BPB
With it being at my favourite park and being a rough woodie, it'll be tough to beat. Just the right amount of airtime and craziness to be by favourite.

2. Blue Fire, EP
Was very surprised how much I enjoyed it - as usually I don't fare well with launched coasters such as DLP's Space Mountain 2. Barely cresting the first hill and the final inversion (would love to know how that came into being) really make this ride a joy.

3. Oblivion, AT
The one attraction that makes me look forward to each Alton Towers trip. This is the only dive machine i've been on as yet, however the freefall airtime really does take my breath away. The mist makes a great shower too after stacking in the station.

4. Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, WDS
My last experience was quite a while back, but this is the one thing that stuck out to me in an otherwise gloomy park. This was before Crush/Toy Story Land however.

5. Eurosat, EP
My first coaster at Europa Park which I wasn't really prepared for! Would make the list for it's soundtrack alone, but it's one of those coasters that is great once you're used to the roughness. Would love to ride with full vision - might knock it up a spot or two.

6. Grand National, BPB
Rides with an 'interactive touch' seem to fare well with me - which is probably why the Nash is my favourite traditional style woodie. It's not too rough, but the airtime can be phenomenal on this beast after a bit of rain and/or at night. Certainly the best double dips to be found in the country.

7. Nemesis, AT
Probably will get a few groans for not pushing this higher up the list, but Nemesis genuinely doesn't do that much for me. It was certainly the best of the selection during the 'Year of the Coaster', but unfortunately the ride just isn't something I over-appreciate.

8. Wodan, EP
I was expecting something a bit more from Wodan when I went EP recently, however it's still a great modern woodie. The coaster did seem to warm up a bit over a few days, however the restraints voluntarily falling down do little to provide airtime. The first drop is quite something though on the front row!

9. Big Thunder Mountain, DLP
OK, certainly not the most thrilling or one with the most Gs, but it has that touch only Disney could deliver. The theming, the setting, and the odd unexpected twist make this a classic.

10. Rollercoaster, GYPB
A gem in the rough. Was difficult to choose between this and LV's Ultimate, however this has some heritage to it which swayed my decision. Whilst it certainly doesn't look too impressive from its facade and height, the second drop amidst beams and supports is quite something.

I'm sure this list will change once I start going to new places soonish :)

My top ten:


1. Nemesis - Do I really need to justify this? ;) Haha! Well it was my first big coaster and I love the layout, setting (jagged rocks and rivers of blood ftw! :D ), backstory, soundtrack, theming (what's left), history of how it came to be, its terrific roar, the way it interacts with people queuing or stood around it and the intensity! Living under 40 minutes from it is a great bonus! I'd say that the front is my favourite place to sit as the views are incredible and it feels much more forceful to be pushed through the inversions and helix over being sat at the back. Long live Nemesis!

2. Kumba - My Nemesis substitute whilst I was in Florida! :p Very intense, beautiful surroundings, fast, well-paced, dramatic background music, the same fantastic roar as Nemesis and I'm one of a few who actually like its colour scheme. That cobra roll over the rapids walkway is to die for and I love the little flick to the left before the drop into the tunnel! :D

3. Oblivion - Such a dramatic ride and it executes its job so beautifully and precise! The way it dominates X-Sector is just stunning and the theming, music, videos and build up to the drop is perfect. I rate it above Sheikra because it's just so much more intense, even though Sheikra has the amazing splashdown, second big drop and an inversion. If SW7 detracts from Oblivion's story and nature when the main 2013 season begins, I'm going to be extremely annoyed. :l

4. Vampire - I honestly adore Vampire. The way it swoops over-head and through Transylvania is brilliant, the interaction between the two trains swinging past each other is mesmerizing, the station and theme tune are AMAZING :p and I just love the jolts and swinging sensation. I also love the story of how it struggled to stay at the park and how nearby residents hate it! XD Everything about it is just so 90's and that's another reason why I love it! My favourite family coaster of all time! :)

5. Grand National - Like an OAP after the medicine has kicked-in! :p I love sitting at the back and being whipped straight over the hills, though I do also enjoy sitting at the front for the double dip drop. It's just an utterly mad coaster! A true classic that I hope will remain at the Pleasure Beach for years and years to come!

6. Gwazi - My first modern(ish) wooden roller coaster and I bloody loved it! :p I honestly don't understand why people hate it so much. Sure, it's not the best wooden coaster by a long shot, but it's still a really fun ride. It's not smooth, but it's not horrible and bone breaking! :p Seriously, I laughed my head of on both occasions that I went on it. There's a decent amount of air time, it's got good pacing, has some nice twists and turns and with a near walk-on queue throughout peak season, who can argue?

7. Montu - A little overrated in my opinion, but a fantastic experience nonetheless. The loop and entrance into the batwing are the highlights of this coaster with the next best features naturally being the theming around it, the trains and the view of the ride from the car park at the end of the day as the sun catches it is breathtaking! It'd be joint with Kumba but it dies after the second loop which is a real shame. :/

8. Stealth - The little Lucozade Alert Plus energy shot of the coaster world, delivering a nice amount of adrenaline in a very short and neat (but brilliant) package! :p I love the theming, the radio station playing around the area. The views from the top are superb, as is the sensation of being pinned to your seat as you launch forward once the lights change to green! Mini Kingda Ka ftw! :p

9. Saw - Nowhere near as rough as many make it out to be and I feel most of the hate towards it comes from the fact that it's at Thorpe Park. XD The dark section is bloody epic and the build to the drop is so good! My favourite aspects have to be the drop beneath the spinning blades outside, the immelmann, the theming in the queue and the entire inside part of the ride. It' rank higher if it had a more inspiring layout and more interaction with onlookers wouldn't have gone amiss either.

10. Manta - A very aesthetically pleasing coaster (apart from the scrawlings on the walls of the queue :/ ) which makes for a fantastic welcoming attraction as you enter Sea World Orlando. The splash effect as the train swoops past is wonderful, but, come on... you know it's all about that pretzel loop! ;) That element is one of my favourite experiences of all time on a roller coaster and it's a shame there isn't one closer to home. :/





Rides that just missed out (in no particular order, apart from the first :p ):


Revenge of the Mummy - If I could add an eleventh, it'd have to be this! :D The dark ride style section before the intense coaster bit is brilliant! The backwards drop needed to be bigger and steeper but the ensuing upward launch through the mist into complete darkness was awesome! I really like the sounds, effects, animatronics and the queue as well.

Hulk - If it hadn't been for the rubbish that proceeded the MCBR, this would have probably been joint second with Kumba. The launch is just sublime and it looks fantastic when stood across the lake from it or directly underneath. It has two of the most forceful loops and cobra roll that I've ever experienced on a B&M, or any coaster as a matter of fact, and that dive before the rise into the MCBR is terrific fun!

Duelling Dragons / Dragon Challenge - Two great coasters on some unsightly land with horrendous views from the top of the lift. I'd say the red side is my favourite as it packed more of a punch (especially the immelmann). An utterly gorgeous queue and they're both still very intense coasters, just not quite enough to make me add them into my top 10. The lack of duelling doesn't help its cause. :/

Colossus - Very much a Marmite coaster, but I am one of the few that enjoy it. It has one of the best soundtracks of any roller coaster on the planet in my opinion and that music. Combine that with a huge looping coaster that's shrouded in trees, walkways and Atlanteanesque buildings and I think they did a pretty damn good job with turning one of Intamin's standard looping coasters into something much more grand.

Sheikra - I've already touched on Sheikra when I compared it with Oblivion. Yes, it's bigger and longer and this, that and the other, but to me it felt very soft for such a huge ride. The second big drop is probably the highlight of the ride for me, but it's definitely all about the splashdown when you're not strapped-in!

Air - I remember watching Blue Peter on TV when John Wardley took Simon Thomas around on it and it really caught my eye. A very relaxing ride but it knows how to turn it up a notch with the fly-to-lie section and then final turns and dips next to the car park. Again, it's one of Wardley's greatest creations which interacts with its surroundings perfectly and really does take you on a journey. A truly great ride and I'm proud that my local park was able to build what is still one of the most advanced coasters on the planet! Yay for Air! :p

Big Dipper - Not quite enough air time on this for me, though I do adore its layout and the history of all the alterations to it. You also have to enjoy the way it's woven into the park around the Big One, Steeple Chase, Infusion and the train, etc... It also has a lovely old station and the turn after the lift look marvellous from below! I also say it's the smoothest of the big wooden coasters at the Pleasure Beach too.

Kraken - A very eye-catching ride which immediately draws your attention as you drive past the park. What let this ride down was its opening. It's simply too soft and the first drop could have been steeper. I also dislike the long trundle into the MCBR and final brake run too. However, the good points are the theming and the intense second half. The drop from the MCBR into the loop and then the tunnel is all very fast and intense and it really does make for a good ending to the coaster. That corkscrew isn't half bad either! :)

Wild Mouse - So cute and yet so, so brutal! :p Hilarious and unforgiving; Blackpool's Wild Mouse is one of my absolute favourite rides out there. I love its uniqueness and its history, so if Mandy does ever decide to wield her axe in its direction, I don't think I could bring myself to go back. :( I'd miss having to duck on the lift to avoid decapitation and having to brace in case the ride packs in and goes over the edge of one of the turns! XD This ride is very much the opposite of the ride I'm about to move on to.

Swarm - A sheep in wolf's clothing, tbh. I came very close to dropping this vastly overrated attraction into the section below, however, the first drop beneath the plane wing, the fireball, the station building (minus the vehicle wedged on the side) and the trains saved it. Beyond the first drop, the layout is uninspiring (what's with the brake run before the final helix? :l ). It's just too short and doesn't make you feel like you've been caught by alien machine... things... which (according to the adverts) can fly very fast over great distances. Swarm is just too compact, has a horrific queue and a boring entrance (that sign :l ). As much as people praise its theming, the old vehicles for it cost next to nothing to purchase which leaves the odd stall, the station and the trains. it needed to be much more immersive if they were really trying to create a sense of an alien civilisation bringing about the end of the world, but it could have been worse I suppose. It's good by UK standards, but is that really what we should be doing? :/




Two coasters that were good and bad at the same time:


Cheetah Hunt - I really don't know what happened with this ride. It has such a fantastic start and middle but the end is just mind numbingly dull. The twisting section, launches and air time hills are the highlights for this attraction.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit - Such a beautiful ride in the evening but the pointless middle section, crap ending and the queue really do ruin this coaster for me. It does have a very good "double tale" though. :)




I'm sure I'd have commented on Nemesis Inferno too, but I still haven't got around to riding it yet. XD I also need to go to some European parks and maybe the odd Cedar Fair and Six Flags park too! :/

1. Shambhala, PortAventura
To quote the well-known philosopher Diogo, circa 2013, 'Silver who?' :p It's brilliant. The amount of airtime is insane, especially on the mini-camelback after the figure-of-eight turnaround - I didn't actually drop back into my seat until the train levelled out from it! The splashdown is very photogenic as well. Best seats? The front row, or as close to the front as you can get. I'm not a fan of the staggered seating on the trains, but it's still brilliant. I got put onto the front row when I was in the single rider queue, and I'll tell you this. I came off feeling pretty damn smug. :p

2. Silver Star, Europa-Park
Just pipped to the post by Shambhala now, but I still love it. It left me speechless after I got off it for the first time. The airtime's brilliant, it's very imposing on the landscape, and it's just good all round. Apparently, it was running a bit slower than normal last August, and I'll be looking forward to getting back on it in July to see if it's changed much. I still need to do the front row, so I'll definitely be doing that.

3. Blue Fire, Europa-Park
What can I say? The launch is smooth, it's well-paced, and the restraints are so comfortable. Plus that last inversion...Mmmmm...

4. Nemesis, Alton Towers
I don't think I need to say anything here. Currently the best coaster I've been on in the UK. It just doesn't stop giving until the end, and the helix after the first corkscrew is superb. Never felt anything as intense as that in a long time. I have one tip for you. Front left seat in the dark is definitely the best ride I've ever had on this monster. And then there's also that epic roar. :D

5. Oblivion, Alton Towers
I haven't seen X-Sector in the flesh since the end of last season, but even so, Oblivion is still intimidating to look at. The repaint seems to have made it a whole lot better to look at, and it's one of very few coasters that scares me a little bit.

6. Wodan, Europa-Park
My top woodie, it's much smoother than others I've been on (I'm looking at you, Magnus Colossus and Stampida), and the interaction it has with Blue Fire and Atlantica SuperSplash is very good. And the Millennium Flyer trains are just exquisite. As for the theming - well, just have a look at my review of EP. :p In terms of theming, it's the best I've ever seen outside Disneyland Paris, and may well just beat Disney!

7. Euro-Mir, Europa-Park
An interesting layout, comfy trains, and epic music - perfect for having raves on the lift hill. :D It's a bit rough, but it's not too bad once you get used to it.

8. Alpenexpress, Europa-Park
A good powered coaster from Mack. Its layout is pretty decent, it feels faster than RMT, and it also interacts with Diamond Mine. Mmm, I can smell it now...

9. Air, Alton Towers
Air offers a different experience to the other major coasters at Towers. It feels a lot more elegant and smooth than other rides I've been on, and it's just amazing to go on at night.

10. Pegasus, Europa-Park
For a junior coaster, this is certainly a lot more intense than I thought it was going to be, and I certainly think that Towers should potentially look at installing a Mack YoungStar similar to this one.

I may as well state why I've removed some coasters from my top 10. Dragon Khan has gone because I found it to be rougher than I remembered it to be, and the same goes for Stampida. Stampida only has single-train operation on either side for some reason now, and the back half of each train isn't loaded as it's apparently too rough on the back rows. They should at least consider getting some Millennium Flyers - that'd probably help to solve the problem in part. As for Inferno at Terra Mítica? Well, it's just not as good as I thought it was, and I decided to put it on there for no apparent reason at all. :p

3. Big Dipper, Pleasure Beach Blackpool

Such a fun ride, I love it :p

4. Vampire, Chessington World Of Adventures

This ride will always be held dear to me, first proper coaster :D

5. Rattlesnake, Chessington World Of Adventures

This ride never fails to get a grin on my face, usually re-ride it a fair bit

6. Grand National, Pleasure Beach Blackpool

Pretty much what everyone else has said

7. SAW: The Ride, Thorpe Park

Being the Saw fan I am, this appeals a lot

8. Rita, Alton Towers

Better than its sister at Thorpe park, this slots into number 8

9. Steeplechase, Pleasure Beach Blackpool

Well I prefer it to Stealth, so this might get me killed :p

10. Stealth, THORPE PARK

Beaten down by its sister at Alton Towers, it is still a fun ride

Honourable mention goes to Streak at Pleasure Beach Blackpool for the most amusing queueline.

My list is limited by the theme parks I've been to so far, but I hope this will change.
 
Considering I've not done many coasters, I tend to do a top 5 as opposed to a top 10, only seems right because after the top 5 or 6, it becomes very close and packed full of rides I only rate as 'Good'...

1) The Swarm (Thorpe Park) Perfection for me. Really cannot beat it; it is the full package.

2) Nemesis (Alton Towers) Don't think this one needs explaining really, we all know why it's so good.

3) Th13teen (Alton Towers) I don't know what it is about this ride that I love so much; I just love it. However, I get a feeling that this year it may slip down in my rankings a bit..

4) Nemesis Inferno (Thorpe Park) Until last year, it was my favourite Thorpe coaster, and quite possibly my favourite (tied with Th13teen). But last year, I lost some love for it. However, with the spruce ups this season, I seem to love it again, and once I ride Th13teen again this summer, I may find that I prefer Inferno to it.

5) Saw - The Ride (Thorpe Park) This one always teeters in my rankings, and until recently, I rated it above Inferno. However, Inferno has shot back up in my ranks, and Saw has just stayed equally solid. I don't find it rough, but just intense, and it's nicely styled.

Honorary Mention - The Antelope (Gulliver's World, Warrington) I rode this about 10 years ago. It was my first (and, to date, only) wooden coaster. I really, really enjoyed it, and I think the innocent, non-enthusiast 9 year old version of me which rode it reminds me why I love theme parks.


(As a side note, for Swarm, I'm rating the forwards section. I'm not including Swarm backwards, though if I was, it would come in at a solid 3rd place.)
