Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Icon - 2018 Mack Double Launch Coaster

I recieved a response from the park today:

We are selling ICON Boarding Cards currently in Kiss Me Quick - they are essentially our current Big One Ride Tickets, that enable the guest entry to the park, a single ride on the ride and on this occasion with the ICON boarding card, a printed certificate to accompany their first ride.

If guests do have a wristband, they will still be able to ride ICON as they wish throughout their visit.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

I assume certificates will be available for those who purchase an On-ride-photo too, just like they did with Infusion.

The last thing I'd want is an Infusion ORP, with me looking like I'm about to pass out :tired:. Sorry for loudly calling you a bar steward on the first (and only!) drop recently Temleh, after you 'encouraged' me to go on. Actually, no, I'm not sorry :grinning:

More Mack track arriving at the park today, is it just me or does it have a really thick spine compared to other Mack coasters?

Quite a few of the newer Mack coasters have had sections of track with a very thick spine. It's good to see this development in their track, hopefully it results in a better overall experience.

:)

Why are people now doing video construction updates? What was so wrong with a good old photo update?

Oh yeah, you don't get the YouTube hits on a photo update. That's all most enthusiasts seem to care about now, shame.

I appreciate the CPBE Icon video updates but also love seeing photos of the progress. Remember we all log in via different platforms, for example I check the pages from a work computer when its quiet, and all YouTube stuff is blocked so won't load anyway, then I forget to watch them when home, as I can't be arsed sitting in front of YouTube for ages. Pics in a thread are always good. I had some up on the PBE forum but probably nothing that isn't already in the Icon topic on here anyway. I set up a Flickr page after Farce-o-Bucket starting demanding huge sums of money for posting on third party sites, will update it at season end as have some cool pics from this season

The advantage of YouTube is that the images can't disappear after a certain amount of time (as they always do due to image hosts changing/static links being updated etc). On a video they're hardcoded in so they're always there.

I think I'm just one for tradition that's all. Can't beat the old days of reading a PTR.

Now there's far too many enthusiasts all "vlogging"... soz but we really don't need to see multiple vlogs every week from the same places (We don't need to see any vlogs tbh - go to the park yourself instead of watching someone else there). Call me cynical, but I just don't get it. Same with every man and his dog needing a POV of Nemesis or the Big One. Thanks guys but we really don't need any more, just go to the park, put your GoPro away and fucking enjoy yourself.

I agree, good old fashioned pictures are far more practical.
The real irony is that a lot of the more established youtube content creators are getting fed up of the place and moving to other platforms.

Off topic Youtube rant:
Side note, but I follow a few people who specialise in "military history" and topics such as "just how practical is it to duel wield swords vs sword and shield?" etc. Suddenly one of their fellows - admittedly not someone I had heard of - has had his whole channel taken down with no explanation or warning. Apparently he was "promoting terrorism".... By discussing the merits of anchient greek weaponry. Understandably they are now all panicing that they will be cut off next!
Add to this the way so many content creators are getting copywrite strikes regardless of "fair use", and the whole demonitisation thing, it's no wonder a lot of the bigger names are switching away from Google.

I don't mind Vlog updates as long as they aren't just a slideshow of pictures which I could otherwise brows at my own pace. Like others have said I can't watch Youtube during my lunch breaks so pictures are preferable (hence why I haven't seen the above video).

But I love watching Photo Finds for the Orlando parks. They're posted infrequently enough not to repeat old topics and the voice over on the pictures justify the format. When a park you love is too far away to frequently visit experiencing it vicariously is a fair alternative.

While we are on the subject of videos, I wonder if the park will film and promote a pov in VR 360 degree format ?
They are becoming quite a popular format for coaster POV's

Still good old photo updates on Theme Park Guide ;) #selfpromote

I see the benefit for doing video updates, something more appealing seeing construction taking place in moving picture form but don't really see the point when there is nothing going on.
