I wish I knew where they got this idea that stairs are bad from, "You can't get people to queue on stairs, it's dangerous!" followed by "Let's have a scare maze in the towers with ancient uneven stairs and chase people up/down them". Also the Nemesis queue line is full of stairs, loads more hazardous than the level, same-sized concrete steps inside the Smiler/Thirteen etc.

They do the same on Saw at Thorpe Park now - hold you outside the building, then let about 30 people through at once for a climb right to the top. Worked a lot better letting people queue indoors. Can you even imagine how the queue would work on Revolution if Merlin ran BPB?!

I was expecting that with the removal of Smiler's SRQ they'd join the fence going up the stairs with the fence by the baggage room to stop people switching sides and just let them queue up through the normal routes.
Its clearly not a safety thing as when I went 2016 and multiple times 2017 scarefest they had staff directing people to queue on the stairs

I have ideas on that.

Similar to MAP card. They want online registration for RAP now. Why not get issued with a photo card. Then have a machine that dispenses a wristband and a time card with the date and users name printed on it.

They're half way there (at Chessington anyway) as they issue a photo ID RAP card valid for the year, it does seem a sensible addition to give the wristbands and booklets to someone on the gate, or a machine to issue them rather than having to wait at guest services or stand at a table in the middle of market square having abuse hurled at you from those that haven't registered yet, I like Alton's system, left lane for RAP, right lane for everything else, shame they don't make that clear.

If they are going to insist on not having the merge host on the Smiler, then really the only sensible solution is to send RAP up the fast track queue, there is always a batcher at the top of the stairs and it also guarantees the RAP card will get completed, very hit and miss whether it does get filled in presently and you don't get punched in the face / kicked to the floor / pushed over or have abuse hurled at you (delete at preference, saw all four over weekend at various points) for simple following instructions issued by a park manager who didn't even bother to tell those in guest services or ride operations of the changes.

I Knew you would come round to my idea of Rap using the smiles ft!

Is it reasonable access for them not to provide rap for people such as myself with autism or Asperger's when it's at relatively low cost to them? I would argue that it's not.

Does a RAP queue guarantee you no queuing, a set queue time or even a reduced wait? No it doesn't, therefore there is the answer to your question and is exactly why your local ASDA doesn't offer this at the tills.

Yup, when you described the procedure I thought what the hell, self merging is going to cause major issues, I wonder if it did today given it was "family friendly" day.

I dread to think what will happen in the Summer if they don't fix this.

What I don't understand is why do some people think they don't have to wait but others do? What is the problem just all waiting in the same queue?

How rap actually works has been discussed enough so I'm not repeating it again, the main queue is downright unbearable for many people.

You wouldn't ask why someone paralysed from the neck down doesn't do push-ups to keep fit, so instead of asking, go spend a few days with someone on the spectrum, then you'll understand.

As has been said, the RAP horse has been beaten to death round here, we do queue, just in reverse.

You queue for 1 hour and get on a ride, you can then go onto the next ride immediately.
A RAP user may seemingly get on the ride without waiting that hour, but after riding said coaster they then have to wait that one hour before they can go back on any other coaster in the park - even that coaster you just jumped on and rode twice because it has a five minute queue, RAP users would still have to wait the hour before doing that.

Everybody queues, just some do it after going on the ride and can go sit peacefully on the grass to do it, instead of before stuck in a claustrophobic cattle pen with a thousand other screaming idiots.

What we all have to do at tesco when waiting for till or when waiting at traffic lights when driving? Or the queue to buy tickets at the entrance or box office to get upgrades? It's just part of life

That's what their carer does for them, along with some other stuff like blowing noses, wiping arses, washing, cooking, you know all those activities you take for granted that you can do yourself but a person on the spectrum may wake up in the morning not knowing how to do, even though their carer spent yesterday, and every other day previously, teaching them patiently to do in the vein hope that one day, just one day they may suddenly remember the tooth brush goes in their mouth, not yours.

Plus of course your average everyday queue at Tesco does not entail standing in an endless dark smelly cattle pen with strangers for an hour or more.

I should stop now before management read me the riot act again.

I fully understand people with severe difficulties and disabilities needing a pass etc and have no issues with that. Using the current smiler system three quarters of the queuing is eradicated. No one surely can expect just to walk on even if everyone bought fastrack they would have to wait a little bit.

We don't expect to walk on, most people can wait a short while, just some not long enough for main queue.

In some cases neurological reasons in others physical.
Exactly. I'm getting better with queueing now, but due to my disability standing in long queues can make me agitated or anxious, so i qualify for the rap. If a ride has a short queue or is walk-on, i can use the main queue.

I have no issue with people who need RAP using it, they are more than justified in doing so.

What really bugs me is the abuse that the system gets, and so yesterday we thought we'd do a little experiment.

We have no disability documentation, no blud badge, no letter from a doctor or anything like that. We walked into the Box Office, said that one of us had a condition that prevents queueing and boom, we had ourselves an RAP. No questions asked.

I hope that this doesn't offend any of the people who truthfully need RAP, but now we know how easy it is to get one without actually needing it.

Same. On quiet days I've gone Nemeisis main queue just to experience the themeing

Yeah, when i go in a few weeks i'm going on a Friday so it should be quiet, which will mean that i can use the main queues hence, as you said, getting the full experience.

I did Oblivions main queue last time as it was quite short, plus it broke down as I got to the front, so if I had used the rap I may have got stuck on it.

I fully understand that I just got the vibe that some guys thought they could just walk on. Like the fast trackers who gloat bypassing you waving their passes etc. Although I had to laugh on Friday while waiting in nemisis front row queue when they were loading fast trackers but they didn't let them use front row. Money doesn't buy you everything!
