It's the trees that do it, they create their own little eco-system if the circumstances are right. I've been at Brands Hatch which isn't much bigger than the park but similar in terrain and tree growth and it's been brilliant sunshine in one area and two inches of snow in another at the same time.

Snow and ice on Wickermans tracks is understandable, especially if it's frozen, but if Oblivion is open, then what's the excuse for everything else? Surely if Oblivion can run then so can Smiler, Rita, Thirteen at least since they are all train on track rides. Nemesis/Air are suspended coasters, so maybe there is a concern if there is ice hanging from the track, but...... Hand, meet hammer, knock the ice off.

Oh dear, a bit of snow on Wickermans track. Took 2-3 days to get it open last time that happened. Must wait for every tiny bit to thaw now until testing for 3 hours before opening again.

Scanning through the twitter feed, I see a response from someone asking about bounce back tickets.

Apparently they have gone too this year :(

I would have thought bounce backs would have brought in more revenue than the £55 annual pass

Why does Oblivion always seem to have a 5 minute queue?
Also, does anyone know if it is on single or double load?

Are we being too harsh on them?

I only ask because down the road at Donington, it's taken seven hours of continuous work to get the track into a condition where the racing can take place, and then half of the Superbike riders just crashed in the warmup due to it still being so wet and cold that no sane person would ever consider it safe to ride in usually.

I'm just thinking if it takes someone which the resources of MSV so long to get their site (something built even more so for poor weather than Alton) up and running, are we being a little harsh on Alton for suffering the same problem?

All these talks/images of queue times - when are they going to put the Resort Box Office time on the bottom. They could put it in the Family section as everyone in the family can enjoy that one! :p
Even the RBO queue is small

Visit on an off-peak day when the weather improves and you'll be very unlucky to not have a good day and get loads of rides in. Everything else is like Russian Roulette.

I dread to think what summer holidays and scarefest is like. I havent visited in either period for years now. I am hoping to visit scarefest this year though just for WM in the dark.
