I’m waiting till they delay leaving in December with the excuse
Covid19
We can’t get a deal
The government has come out and said that COVID-19 will have no impact on the Brexit transition period; it will still end in December whatever happens according to Boris.

It will be interesting to see what the infection rates of "generic colds" is, now that everyone is washing their hands and sanitising every surface.

I reckon the biggest reduction will be seen in things like norovirus which are completely spread through surface contact and food contaminated by somebody who has it. Hopefully colds will drop too although they are so easy to catch!

I’d rather get Coronavirus than norovirus to be honest...

Out of interest, what is norovirus, and what sort of symptoms does it give you?

Where did you hear that? I heard that cases have risen by 42 to 206 today, but not that anyone else has died. Definitely not good if 2 more have died, though...

Was off a post on r/CoronavirusUK so it is only hearsay as no official figures for death count released yet.

Still only a 1% CFR though, or a roundabouts that so that’s a good sign. We’ve also not had the massive surge I was expecting. New cases today at a 3% increase over yesterday’s 2% and the day before 2.4~%

The announcement made by Public Health England 22 minutes ago still says that only 2 people have died, so I'd say that's the most trustworthy source we can go by:

Interestingly, it would seem that thus far, less than 1% of those being tested are coming out positive, so the government are clearly being very vigilant in testing those with even slight symptoms.

I’d agree with you there on keeping to the trusted sources. Hasn’t seen the PHE release yet so forgive me.

It certainly seems that we’ve got a pretty good grip on this thing so far.

U/IAmPixel on Reddit has been graphing the outbreak since day one.

This graph is updated to the 29th day of the outbreak, today in UK and a week ago in Italy. It further shows just how well we’re handling this despite what some people say.

Am I still concerned? Absolutely. But I have definetely gone from an anxious panic to a more calm cautious.

Edit; Just to add on the testing point; as of 7am we have tested 21,666 people, with 206 confirmed infected, given a confirmed case rate of 0.95% which is damn incredible considering we’re not locked down or anything

That's a very interesting graph; thanks for sharing @USLShadow. Although I was under the impression that Italy and the UK had their first confirmed cases on the same day, so technically, that puts the UK on an even better footing.

I too thought we broke on the same day as Italy. But even if we did, that just puts us on even better stead then Italy in terms of realistic control of the virus

I know Wikipedia isn't the most reliable source, but it lists the UK as having had its first confirmed case on 31st January 2020: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_coronavirus_outbreak_in_the_United_Kingdom
And it says that Italy also had its first confirmed case on 31st January 2020: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_coronavirus_outbreak_in_Italy

Good enough for me then, I was just going off the Author of the graph. Which means we’re handling this even better then the graph shows

Who do I sue for using my words to advertise crap without my consent? Pretty sure that's not in the TST T&Cs, is it, @Craig? ;)

I was expecting a higher increase in numbers today so it's a surprise that it was not so high.

However, unless I missed it, I didnt notice how many cases they could not contact trace. Last I heard it was 8 . If that number was increasing then it would indicate more community spread
