That’s extreme lengths to put people off going there.

La-GOONS! Now the coronavirus cops who stalked walkers with drones ruin picturesque 'blue lagoon' by filling it with BLACK DYE to stop Instagrammers posing for snaps

Derbyshire Police used the unusual tactic to dye the water at the blue lagoon in Buxton in order to deter visitors from the area.

In a Facebook post earlier this week, the Buxton safer neighbourhood policing team said officers had been told people were congregating beside the water in Harpur Hill.

Exercise is one of the legislated reasons, so that is good reason. Never in doubt or questioned. Being asked to account for the reasons for your being out is entirely right and justified when you shouldn't be without good reason. We are not living in normal times.

No, we're living in a state of perpetual fear driven by the media and fuelled by guesswork (you can only flaten a curve if you know when it started, we have no idea how long Coronovirus has been in the UK because all the people who we though died of flu back in December, January and early Febraury, are already burried/cremated so can't be tested to see if it was Coronovirus that they died from instead of seasonal flu, which has the same symptoms).

So, with all due respect,

1) I've practically lost my business - all future work cancelled, all existing contracts paused and outstanding invoices not being paid, even by big businesses that should know better as they ware receiving multi-million £ bailouts, the only help I'm going to get I won't see until June at the earliest.

2) I have lost my liberty, I am no longer allowed to leave the flat without a good reason, I am only allowed to do it once a day for exercise, and I'm not allowed to drive anywhere, even alone, to do it because of risks. It is not an exhaagerating to say that fun has been made illegal. Pretty soon we will probably be in the same position as the French, and not even be allowed to leave home without a permission slip.

3) Fairly soon we will likely be homeless because our savings will runout, and despite promising otherwise Boris f***** up the legislation so much that as one MP put it, it merely gives us more time to pack, yes I am aware that there is help available, and we are looking into this, but there is a huge backlog on applications.

I know none of the above is your, or any other members doing, but I hope you will excuse me for hanging on to the last semblance of normality that I have of still being free enough to walk down the street unharrased and not have to account for my actions because you or your colleagues are "just doing your job" - might want to look at a history book and rethink that line too (I know you haven't said it, but I have heard it said by others).

Nothing I've said is aimed at you personally, where I say you, I am talking in overall general terms of the predicament both the force, and the public find themselves in.

But before I get screamed at again by anybody for being hysterical and told to "get a grip this will only last three weeks", if you seriously believe these restrictions will be lifted then, then you are delusional, I'll happily apologise if I am wrong but I don't think I will be, and the Italian death figures are so high because the doctors have been ordered not to treat older people (age varies from 65 up depending on the region).

I just found an article from the Sunday Times about how worldwide measures seem to have changed the predicted modelling for how coronavirus should pan out. As most countries seem to be following China's trajectory in terms of how their outbreak is going, this is apparently fairly accurate: https://apple.news/AdnI99ETJR9C6axrM45oOTw

Interestingly, it predicts that Britain will now only see 5,700 coronavirus deaths, compared with 260,000 under the government's "herd immunity" strategy and 510,000 if nothing had been done. The same modelling predicts that Italy will see 28,000 and Spain will see 46,000, eventually overtaking Italy.

Millions of people are in the exact same position, myself included.

As occurs whenever this forum discusses a broader social issue, you are one of the first off-the-mark with your thoughts. Of course, that is your right, and all good forums need strong characters. But you always manage to make it about yourself, and present a visible, enormous chip on your shoulder in regards to whoever is in charge, or whatever the rules are. I don't care to get into the whys and hows that you're like this, and you probably don't feel like justifying yourself to me or anyone, but given how often you complain about selfish or over-sensitive people are, perhaps stop to think whether you are occupying the same space.

Genuinely didn’t realise there were so many of these lol. I now feel the need for a dashboard of dadhboards...

Im glad my work closed the factory today after my shift as I know I’m not travelling to work everyday with the risks of sitting and working with fellow co workers within 2m. My dad got MS and his been told not to leave the house to at least 12 weeks.

I'm sorry to hear of the predicament you've been put in, I know a lot of people will be struggling financially, but that needs to be removed from our actions and response.

I don't want to deconstruct your post because at this point I don't think that's helpful, but you seem to think you know better than those making the decisions and as a result want to push back against the restrictions. With all due respect, you do not know better and your opinion against the experts in the field with access to vastly more data than any of us will ever have access to is worthless.

The new legislation is there to save lives and needs to be enforced to do so. To compare the enforcement of this to Nazi's excuse for murdering millions of Jews is just crass and makes a nonsense of your own argument. I think it's at that point it's not worth engaging with you much more.

Stay home. Save lives.

I'd say most of this almost a known quantity for most but this paragraph stuck out the most for me.

Class, however, will make all the difference. Being locked up in a house with a pretty garden or in an overcrowded housing project will not be the same. Nor is being able to keep on working from home or seeing your job disappear. That boat in which you’ll be sailing in order to defeat the epidemic will not look the same to everyone nor is it actually the same for everyone: it never was.

We're all suffering in our own individual ways, let's all try and get through it with some class, regardless of your vessel :D

Something that’s going to happen a lot more often now we’re encouraged to report things

Bungling police arrive to shut down comedy club night they thought was breaking coronavirus lockdown rules - only to discover it had happened three weeks ago and repeat was being aired online

Police turned up heavy-handed to break up a comedy club night in Liverpool that was broadcasting a rerun online during the coronavirus lockdown.

Video published online by Hot Water Comedy Club shows officers storming up to the Hardman Street premises last night after 9.30pm.

They ring the doorbell and bang on the door of the venue after receiving a tip-off that Hot Water Comedy Club was hosting a live performance.

For the next 60 seconds, police flout social distancing measures imposed to protect the public and enforced by officers around the country.

But it later emerged that Hot Water Comedy Club was not open, and had been airing a rerun online that evening originally performed on March 7.

It means a member of the public came across the broadcast and reported the show to Merseyside Police, believing the venue was flouting the lockdown.

Apparently, a chief scientist has said that Britain's lockdown will need to last until June to prevent the worst of the virus from hitting: https://apple.news/ADQGaPkVbRvmzr3IpXY_ocA

Some government officials think that the measures could be lifted sooner than June, but the scientist has said that "May is an optimistic prediction. I could see end of May or potentially even June." We will apparently still need to practice social distancing for a long time after, however, with schools & universities potentially remaining closed until the autumn and people still being encouraged to work from home.

Interestingly, the new modelling predicts that the peak will be in the week of 12th April as opposed to the originally projected May/June date.

Probably best to just assume that this is going to be going on with the current restrictions for AT LEAST 3-4 more months and then if it's any less it will be a surprise bonus. Being naturally pessimistic I've personally just mentally written off the rest of this year and have made peace with it. Fresh start again next year. Just spend the rest of this year trying to stay relatively fit and healthy if possible. Stay safe everyone :)

For those struggling with self isolating in these difficult times, spare a thought for the elderly and disabled that have been home bound for many years prior to this outbreak due to being unable to leave the home or do so one in a blue moon due to mobility issues.

I was thinking that the other night. There are people out there who don't have any friends or family, who live alone and are housebound. What we're experiencing is normal for them.

It certainly gives you a different perspective on things.
