Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Here's an idea - offer guests a decent day out and you won't need to beg for positive TripAdvisor reviews.

Have a look on Europa Parks TripAdvisor page where guests voluntarily leave 5 star reviews on a daily basis.

When I worked at a brand new Merlin attraction, there was a huge emphasis from Varney and co about the importance of a high score on TA. So much so that they cut the prices for the first few months to get them off to a good start. Merlin are desperate for positive reviews but still insist on cutting corners when running their attractions.

I'm not sure what you mean by this?

Number 1 ... Paultons Park

If you consistently provide a good day out you get a good rating, Merlin don't so they don't.
Ok,
2, 4, 6, 7 & 8 are all small parks with no stand-out rides but have good customer service. I just find it unusual that the top 10 in every other country is made up of the big parks but not in the UK.

I know this is starting to go a bit off topic, but Trip Advisor reviews are an interesting subject. The same thing’s happening in the States, where a lot of the smaller parks are outperforming the larger parks. Right at the top Disney and Universals are mostly doing very well. Epcot took a bit of a tumble, perhaps because they replaced Illuminations and there’s a lot of construction going on. I think it will bounce back once Ratatouille and Guardians of the Galaxy open.

But in Trip Advisor’s list of the top 25 theme parks in the States there are no Six Flags parks and one Cedar Fair. On the other hand, Bay Beach Amusement Park, Fun Spot America, Knoebels, Santa’s Village, Seabreeze, Funland, Dutch Wonderland, Canobie Lake and Silverwood all make the list.

I have started a Trip Advisor topic as this is something I would be happy to discuss further.

I believe the park is supplied by two companies, as the boundary for the regions supplied goes roughly down the middle of the park.

It used to seem like it was essentially half the park on one and half the other, but seeing as how they've got a random selection of things open, that may not be the case. Perhaps adjustments after a few too many power cuts from the SSE side last year?

Probably just got a couple of extension cords out to plug things in across the park ;).
