Galactica: General Discussion

On the plus side, throughput when running on 3 full crafts has vastly improved since March.

oh the logistics of that would be an operational nightmare, trying to run two queue lines.
all the FAFF
keep VR , Long live VR !

I would say on two stations and three crafts the throughputs are about the same of Air. If anything now because there are so many staff, you are sat waiting ages as its too easy to dispatch!

However as soon as the ride loses some of 25 staff the throughputs will go right down!

I was slowed down going up the lift the other week an the headsets played the hold screen (the beam of light surrounded by stars) until the craft go to the top of the lift.

My main issue with galactica now, is the seats. If you don't like the VR, you don't need to wear it, but you can't get around the new VR casing which 1) makes it near impossible to adjust the VR to a comfortable place if you chose to wear it, 2) restrict your movement even more an airs restraints did.

I'll say something controversial here: air has my favourite restraints and seating out of all of towers coasters. Smilers kill my legs, th13teens are not too bad, but can be uncomfortable if the op pushes it down too far, rita's are just awful, and I find even nemesis and oblivion can be a little uncomfortable as my shoulders don't make contact with the restraints unless I lean forwards (as smooth as nemesis is, I still get marks on my shoulder sometimes for when I've hit the restraint on the first corkscrew). I find airs were really comfortable before the VR was added.

Definitely agree with this. I could barely get my arms around to reach the headset plus I had to hold it the whole time cause even at its tightest, which the ride host assured me it was, it was still sliding down my face before we'd even gone anywhere! So yeah, tricky if you're short and have a small arm span!

I also felt horribly nauseous before we'd even hit the break run which is a shame cause I was pretty impressed with it.

Why can't it just slow down?
As I understand it, rather than monitoring the speed of the train through tracking the rate of wheel revolutions and passing that information to the VR system like Alpenexpress can, the system used for Galactica only adjusts the timing of the footage based on how long the last few trains have taken to get round. It has no idea whether a train has slowed or stopped on the lift hill.

Galatica was running 2 trains, 1 station on Friday. Queued an hour, only to be told that brother had to remove his glasses in order to use the VR. No signs mentioning this anywhere! I calculated the throughput to be about 420pph.

I've been twice now and find the Galactica graphics like something out of a Nintendo. I've tried adjusting but still found it a bit pants. Also found coming out of the right station the VR assumes your coming out of the left which is a bit disorientating.

I'm not convinced by it. On Saturday front row of train 3 only had 3 seats running as the VR on one of the seats had failed.
