Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

The effects on these arms look a bit rubbish now, but they'll look a lot better when they've got cars whizzing around them. They're designed to complement the action of the main ride system, which is why they look a little underwhelming operating on their own.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I hope sound effects will compliment the marm legs. They needs a bit more theater, especially the tickler. ;D

...is it a bird... is it a plane...

Oh no, it's a Smiler train!

Edit: Just seen the picture has been posted above.

New speakers at the entrance of X Sector. Looks like we may be seeing area music being introduced! Which I think is great. I'd like to see the ambient Smiler music used in the area (it's the music in the game used with the area/ride shots before you play the ride) then the main Smiler music (with the laughing sound) used in the station.

Although I am wondering how they are getting away with all of this. Considering the amount of trouble Alton Towers has had with the Ropers for years with this area and small things such as the "Don't Look Down" audio being removed. It makes me question as to how they are able to build a new massive roller coaster and (by the looks of it) bring area music into this part of the park. Have the Ropers moved? Or are Alton that confident this will cause no major noise issues?

Despite my concerns, area music I will welcome with open arms. This could turn out to be BRILLIANT!

The Ropers still own the house in Farley, but apparently, they hardly live there now.

There has always been area music in X Sector you probably have heard it but it isn't instantly obvious, it is industrial sounds with clanging of pipes etc.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Trains on track surely means full testing must start soon?

Exciting!

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I doubt testing will commence until that support is corrected above the toilet block. Apart from that, it looks like most of the ride is up and ready to go.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I thought the reason they got rid of the "dont look down" was because it 'encouraged people to scream' causing more noise.

I wouldn't think ride area music would be much of a problem

Yellow Panels have now been added to the fronts of the needles on the Inoculator! It's great to see the little details like this coming together now to really finish the ride off! :D

It was confirmed as OSTR's when the trains first arrived. Towers posted a picture on the Smiler Website on March 28th.

You can see a better picture of them here! :)

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Am I the only one that can't see the optical illusion picture on the back of those cars?

Thats a good point? Maybe it is only on the back row? Which may be good for those without a strong stomach ;)

[EDIT] Judging by the images from the front I dont believe that all rows have the illusions on, just the rear row.
