Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Re: Thorpe Park

Totally agree with the above, its just all about getting guests to "get it"

From what i heard thorpe had staff handing out leaflets at admissions, on the bridge and the path to The Swarm island but some still seemed to not quite understand.

I actually think the trial could work better if they introduced it on 2/3 rides instead of just the one.. but then i guess one is brave enough!

Re: Thorpe Park

It sounds like a good idea, and very much like Towers had years ago on rides like Air, Oblivion and blackhole, where you got a printed ticket and then came back later, which in turn got replaced by fastrack.

However like others have pointed out, there seems to be quite a few flaws at the moment, but then again this is what a trial is for.

But I do find it odd that they are trialing this on their newest (which means one of the most popular) rides on park, during August! Why not do the trial in September when its quiter or pick some smaller rides to start with.

Well I guess if they're possibly considering rolling this program out to all attractions across the park at all times they'll want to see how it works under heavy load when the park is busy. No point testing it on small rides on quiet days and it working fine, if every time the park gets busy the major rides are crippled by it :)

Re: Thorpe Park

But it would make more sense to test it on small rides when its quiet to iron out initial problems, eg people being able to book it anywhere! then once its fine on smaller rides trial it on bigger rides.

Re: Thorpe Park

Paid a trip to Thorpe today and noticed that the park has placed a blockade between the Saw on ride photo booth and the ride shop, forcing guests to exit through the shop. Cheeky Merlin.

Re: Thorpe Park

It wasn't like that at the start of the season, but when me and Sam went a few weeks back it was! They had also attempted something similar near Swarm, but it didnt force you through the shop so much.

Re: Thorpe Park

Thorpe have announced on FB that Frighnights will be tied up with Lionsgate. Certainly will have a good marketing effect.

Makes sense too with Saw already on park.

List of all mazes...

Re: Thorpe Park

See, normally I wouldn't be excited about a scare maze (because I hate them), but...Cabin In The Woods? That's definitely peaked my interest!

Re: Thorpe Park

Oh, wow! This is a definite must-go-to! I'm pleased Thorpe have pulled a deal so big. I'm impressed at the amount of mazes and if they're IP, they'll have to be of quality, too.

Re: Thorpe Park

I'm not really a scaremaze person, but that looks pretty interesting. If they can pull it off with some nice theming and immersion, it'll be one of the best so far.

This will probably be the aftermath of Universal Vs Merlin on the Saw maze, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure Universal Halloween Horror Nights had most of these films as mazes a year or two ago? I know they didn't have Your Next as that is a new film out for this year. Universal won the right to have Saw maze first along with a few others I think.

Re: Thorpe Park

I have to say that this has made me VERY excited. The entire event looks like it will be getting a massive overhaul which it has been needing for years. I mean 4 new mazes is just a crazy amount. Usually we only get one or two at maze but 4. I am taking my hats of to them as this looks likely to be the best Halloween event of the year. The only thing that needs improving is the park to be dressed up and then I will well and truly eat that hat I have just taken off to them! Have they also extended the times of the event? It is now starting a week earlier by the looks of it and ending a week later. Luckily I will get to visit this twice!

Re: Thorpe Park

I look forward to the optimism dying quicker than Slammer if/when they announce the mazes will be paid for to cover the cost of the licence ;)

They missed a joke too..

Wood you?

Am I right?.. Guys?...

I was thinking exactly the same... But in this day and age they probably wood have just been criticised for using incorrect grammar ::)

Re: Thorpe Park

Despite having not seen any of the films on that poster, this does seem very exciting! It will no doubt attract a lot of attention which is good for Thorpe. And hopefully they've got some good people in to make sure the mazes are top notch.

:)

Re: Thorpe Park

Nice to see at least one of the Merlin parks investing in a Halloween event.

Re: Thorpe Park

This could go one of two ways:

It'll either be the greatest Halloween event the UK has ever seen or it will be a half-baked attempt at an event, using an IP to make last years maze layouts seem 'new'

The way Thorpe are acting lately I hope it's the former.
