2012/3 Closed Season Updates (pictures inside!)

Re: A Little Look at the Closed Season

One thing, there was a massive crane over Dark Forest on Monday. No idea what it was doing but something to do with either Rita, Thirteen or the Skyride I imagine. I can upload a photo if anyone wishes showing said crane in the sky!

:)

Pretty sure that is over Dark Forest anyway?

:)

Re: A Little Look at the Closed Season

I'd guess it might be fitting the modification to Rita which it's having go get rid of those ghastly tunnels?

Either that or Poma are doing something big to Skyride.

I had heard Rita was fixed, certainly the tunnels have gone, might be Skyride or maybe they are working on Th13teens drop system.

Re: A Little Look at the Closed Season

Not sure why they would be needing a crane in that area in particular, but I know that they do use cranes for winter maintenance sometimes. For instance they use a crane to get down nemmy's loop to work on the track there.

Re: A Little Look at the Closed Season

Some of you may have seen on our Facebook, but here's how things are getting on down at CCL & MB Burger Kitchens, as well as the work being done on the Flume! :)

Re: A Little Look at the Closed Season

Mutiny Bay BK needed a retheme sorely - so I hope it is altered somewhat. The building style doesn't fit in with the surrounding area at all so hopefully the Burger Kitchen will bring a more piratey feel to the unit.

Re: A Little Look at the Closed Season

God, The Flume isn't half looking in a sorry state at the moment! I'm loving CCL Burger Kitchen though. It looks awesome :D Really suits the rest of the area, and looks so much better than BK ever did!

I'm expecting some flowers and mushrooms to go on the AstroTurf roof like the rest of CCL has too. That whole area is going to look so much fresher now though, what with the recent Skyride rebuild. It'll all come together nicely :)

Re: A Little Look at the Closed Season

Im really liking the new look Cloud Cuckoo Land Burger Kitchen, I can also see the theming that was removed from in front of the Theatre making a reappearance here perhaps on the grass in front of the building. Also it seems there are new blue bands surrounding the pillars on the outside, these could perhaps hold menus or be additional theming. Perhaps with a final finish not to dissimilar to the Wobble World facade. Again carrying the Quentin Blake style art.

Re: A Little Look at the Closed Season

That yellow colour looks so smart and bright now but I dread to think how it'll look in about 5 years time with no repaint - faded :)

Re: A Little Look at the Closed Season

I have to say the topic title is a little confusing and is maybe harming the great content's exposure! This is the first time I've checked it, having no idea it contained these updates and photographs!

Better? ;)

Even though I thought the original already implied that we were taking a physical look at what was happening around the park :)

Yeah that's awesome, maybe not everyone is as selective about what they click as I am but the lurkers that are should now see all of this!

The Flume is looking major battered now, it's fairground standard really and tarnishes the image of the park. It needs to be shaped up or shipped out after this year I think.

Given that it looks like it's been abandoned for a decade, they're clearly thinking of replacing/removing The Flume in the next few years, or they wouldn't have let it get into that state. :)

Perhaps the designated location for the "large indoor ride" for 2016 mentioned in the LTDP? :)

Sadly I don't think you can assume that Towers leaving things to rot is an indication of their imminent removal. I certainly hope not anyway, otherwise we'd also be losing Nemesis and Oblivion in the next few years.

Any ideas as to what's going on with the Flume turntable? It seems fairly major as they're removed the steps to/from the bridge.

I would assume this is just regular maintenance for the flume. Having not worked in that area I can't be 100% sure, but I have seen other rides in my area taken apart like that. It's quite interesting to see Ripsaw with no gondola for instance! :)

Maybe they're finally modifying the turntable so it can take the new boats properly :p It's always had issues with them since the bath tubs arrived supposedly. Also, health and safety weren't too happy with it apparently. At one point I believe they said they wanted it replacing with a straight station, in an attempt to make it safer.
