Wow!

Re: Europa-Park 2013: Magic Cinema 4D + Enchanted Forest Phase 2

Cracking to see that - can't wait to see the new changes on Fjord Rafting in person!

The park opens this Saturday, and the 2013 Press Conference will take place on Thursday so expect a flurry of photo's and information in the next few days!

The park have also now changed/confirmed details of the 2013 shows at Europa-Park, with some information. The Globe Theatre appears to have two different shows this season. Where available (as in, I could fine them on epfans.ch), I have also posted the show promo image.

SHOWS 2013

1. Globe Theatre (England): BUBBLES
Hammou Bensalah is a true maestro. All it takes is a little soap and water for him to conjure a bubbling world of illusions.

2. Teatro dell'Arte (Italy): MIRRAGIO
Showmotive-Teatro.jpg

The light of understanding has opened the eyes of many a bright spark. And even for a clown, mirrored costumes, reflections, lasers and mirror balls are much more than just buffoonery. We shine the spotlight on artistry and humour – so get ready to be dazzled!

3. Spanish Arena (Spain): MILADY'S REVENGE
miladyplakat.jpg

Cardinal de Richelieu is a very unpleasant chap and is keen to get rid of the Duke of Buckingham. The mysterious Milady de Winter takes on the job. But D’Artagnon and his musketeers have something to say about that. Will they be in time to foil the assassination?

4. Globe Theatre (England): WATERLOO
The music of some bands is immortal. Due to its outstanding popularity, the Europa-Park musical will be shown again this season. "Waterloo" is devoted to live singing, dance and comedy – for a heart-stopping ABBA experience in the Globe!

5. Ice Arena (Greece): SURPR'ICE: GOING ON VACATION
Eisshow.jpg

Travel broadens the horizons, particularly when it leads you far beyond them. Our ice-skating stars are on their way to Rio de Janeiro and their journey not only takes them by land, but under water, too. Take some time-out and join them on their travels!

6. Children's Theatre (Holland): THE GUNKEL
Gunkel.jpg

The pen was lying on the desk just a minute ago. And weren't that pair of spectacles always in this drawer? And why do only five socks come out of the washing machine, even though six went in? Surely nothing simply disappears in a well-ordered household – or does it? This sounds like the work of the Gunkel from outer space! [/img]

7. Bamboo Bay (Holland): INSPIRED BY THE PANDA
panda.jpg

This is the story of an unusual friendship between humans and pandas. Presented in collaboration with the Chinese National Circus, Europa-Park's staging of this tale is faithful to a 1000-year-old tradition and has been wonderfully interpreted by top Chinese artists. From the Middle Kingdom straight to the heart of the viewers.

8. Lakeside Stage (France): BIENVENUE PARIS!
”Bienvenue Paris” – a show with international singers, dancers and acrobats fort he whole family! On the beautiful Lakeside Stage in France, Europa-Park's artists present fascinating performances. Nelly Patty sings at select dates and will enchant you with her unique voice.

9. Italian Open Air Stage (Italy): EURO-MAUS AND THE RUSTI'S
Witness a great event. Europa-Park is holding a huge casting for its first band and all of the Euromaus's friends are allowed to enter. Watch and find out which four will be the lucky members of the new band "Die Rustis".

10. Spanish Open Air Stage (Spain): FLAMENCO EVOLUCION
Did Spain give birth to Flamenco or was it the other way around? No dance unites historical passion with pulsating vitality in quite such an impressive way. Love, jealousy, temptation and forgiveness – long may the world revolve around these themes!

11. Magic Cinema 4D (France): THE SECRET OF BALTHASAR CASTLE
Five friends and a big adventure in the 4D film at Europa-Park! Features the fully refurbished Magic Cinema - new for 2013!

12. Open Air Stage (Kinder World): IT'S ALL CHEESE!
Young and old will enjoy the interactive show with Euromaus. Where is the cheese? Participate and join Emily and the magician on a tricky and exciting search for the missing cheese. Come along 30 min before the show to make your own handicrafts.

13. Puppet Stage (Austria): THE FIFTH WHEEL
On a small stage, the marionette's come alive in this hilarious show

14. High Dive Pool (Portugal): ACROSPLASH
Sensational High Dive Show

15. Europa-Park Parade: THE MAGIC OF EUROPE
Daily park parade - see route for details

16. Hotel Bell Rock: RHODE ISLAND WATERFIRE
Fountain Show

17. Electri Bird Theatre (Italy): CARIVAL IN VENICE
Electrical birds in song and dance

Street Entertainers plus other shows and special events take place through the season.

When I first saw that image, I assumed it was the building for the new suspended coaster. It looks that huge.
"Blimey, they've knocked that together quickly!" I thought.
But to find out it's just to cover the lift of Fjord Rafting.....

Insane. Brilliantly so, but still insane! ;D

But seriously, the number of shows is amazing. To quote Roger Moore, "the whole complex is extraordinary." I can't wait also to see what's going on in that rapids lifthill - it won't just be bare and empty like Efteling's for sure!

Exciting times in the next week or so, looking forward to EP-Fans publishing their annual 'change log' for 2013. :)

Re: Europa-Park 2013: Magic Cinema 4D + Enchanted Forest Phase 2

Even in their quietest season for a decade, EP still cement their position as the world's greatest theme park with a raft of improvements, upgrades, refurbishments and an addition that immeasurably increases the intellectual and historical worth of the park. :*

Looking forward to downloading the app update at midnight tonight (when I get unlimited downloads), but I am getting the impression from EP forums that you need to actually be in Rust to use it or it won't work...? Seems annoying, and I'm not sure why they'd make it like that, so hopefully this is just a misunderstanding on my part. :)

With the app starting to play a more useful role with mobile ticketing and queue times, I hope they have looked at improving their Wi-Fi offerings. Free Wi-Fi for all uses across the whole park please, just like at Towers. And it should be easier to install than at Towers as well, with a smaller area to cover. :)

The new Fjord Rafting tunnel is intriguing, and the idea of a beer-brewing mill is very tantalising. I just hope there's no 'forced wetness', which often has the potential to ruin a very good rapids ride (I'm looking at you, Bilge Rat Barges). I'm sure the park know this and will keep the forced wetness in their to a minimum (or maybe vary it according to the season...?)

I'm also excited about mobile ticketing, which will hopefully catch on. Anything that results in shorter queues in the morning at the physical ticket kiosks has to be a good thing. Maybe they could have a digital version of the E-Motions card on the app, à la Google Wallet? It's great to see Europa investing in infrastructure improvements like this during their quiet years - I'm sure they'll spend a lot of their 2013 preparing the park for the inevitable influx of new guests in 2014. :)

I am an iPhone user and the update hasn't shipped for iOS yet, so I can't test it. But I guess it will be only the waiting times section that is limited to Rust. Maybe the park don't want people to cancel a visit if the waiting times are too high.

Re: Europa-Park 2013: Magic Cinema 4D + Enchanted Forest Phase 2

Here is a article from the local newspaper.

http://www.badische-zeitung.de/rust/europa-park-rust-investiert-in-nachhaltigkeit-und-maerchenwelt

google translation:

TÜV certificate "Green Amusement Park"
Europa-Park is investing in sustainability and fairy tales

Sustainable amuse: Europa-Park in Rust is the world's first "Green Amusement Park" - that earned him the TÜV certified. In addition to the ecological balance of the park for the new season has invested in its fairy-tale world.

Higher, faster, gigantic. Accompanied by such adjectives start to the season at the Europa Park commonly. 2013 fit before the season opener on Saturday, 23 March, more descriptions like fairytale or sustainable. About 15 million euros, the park has spent this season and created a new fairy tale village southeast of big lake, the 4-D cinema redesigned or existing attractions or village, where visitors prefer to be alone, completely renewed. And the world's first amusement park, the Europa-Park is let by TÜV Süd certified as a "Green Theme Park".

The latter was perhaps the greatest power in the background. Six months the Bavarian TÜV engineers with the specialists in the parking standards of ecological construction and - for the park and economically just huge - defined energy efficiency, and improved sighted. That now "Europa-Park goes green" is, as the outgoing company spokesman Volker Klaiber described, and the park in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability finally received top marks, was on Thursday for the media at the mandatory press tour before the season not so surprising.

And yet, the park was the result of the evaluation of new homework: How to drive in the peak power consumption in the daily operation down, even if it is only small time intervals of no more than half an hour? Must be fully air-conditioned rooms around the clock? To these and similar questions, the Park to find new answers. Responses, the energy and thus save costs.

With so much efforts to perfection it has the executive floor of the Europa Park have pretty gemopst when Ernst Donislreiter by TÜV Süd at the presentation of his work and reviews in the redesigned 4-D movie for one small misstep in the otherwise usual perfect Europa-Park's presentation made. The TÜV-husband had surgery to illustrate a second mirror-aerial view of park and hotel complex. Santa Isabel east of the Colosseo -. If the good man one time to 80 percent of repeat visitors to the Europa Park will happen to him this faux pas probably not

"Europa-Park goes green" has for many years but the park has a further dimension. Europa-Park Roland Mack not remembered with pride at the opening of the extended fairytale forest in mind: "Here we are in a sensitive and difficult area for an extension," he said, referring to the old trees along the Elz. This was to be preserved and "yet the engagement with houses for the Grimm Theme risking" (Mack). No giant tree was sacrificed and also create new green heart in an enchanted forest.

Directly adjacent to the enchanted forest on the eastern side of the Elz, Europa-Park has been, meanwhile, is already started the construction of a new attraction. There will the most expensive single attraction in the Europa Park realized, Mack. In cooperation with the French director Luc Besson, the creator of the cartoon characters "Arthur and the Invisibles", a combination of indoor and outdoor driving attraction for the whole family will arise. Between 10 000 and 12 000 passengers will carry the Europa-Park with the daily attraction. For season 2014, the project will be finished.

And another project that will be realized in the near future: the tepee camp resort expands. After the installation of underfloor heating in the tipis to this season plans of Europe-Park an extension on the opposite side of the saloon. There are other log cabins (new saloon, shops and possibly a church) and even tepees occur. The road along the saloons should be a pedestrian zone, may operate on the most, western stagecoach or covered wagon.

Re: Europa-Park 2013: Magic Cinema 4D + Enchanted Forest Phase 2

Underfloor heating in the Tipis sounds great, I think it would make them difficult to leave in the morning.

LOL! Europa already have, what, five churches and chapels...?! I love that they invest in stuff like this! Visiting the Norwegian stave church or the Santa Isabel chapel is a treat, so the addition of another sacred space on park is good news, even though I'm not religious. It just adds character and identity to the place.

The under-floor heating at Cheapidorf is probably the best addition announced so far this season. Last time I stayed there I enjoyed it, but decided I probably wouldn't do it again. But now I'm not so sure, as this fixes one of the major problems I had with the place! This must have been quite expensive work to do...?

With these new shops, the church, more accommodation and a second saloon, this part of the resort will hopefully begin to rival the other side as an after-ride close destination. It can feel a bit lonely at the moment, but it sounds like it's being given more gravity and purpose in the overall resort offering. Hoping that if they expand this side of the resort, they'll improve the transport links between Tipidorf and Colosseo/BR/SI/EA/CA at night (all night monorail...?) :)

Re: Europa-Park 2013: Magic Cinema 4D + Enchanted Forest Phase 2

Hi guys !

As promised I`d like to keep you up to date regarding Wodan and the possibility of changing from polyurethane to steel wheels.

Well, Wodan has indeed new wheels...but NOT made of steel but of a different harder/stiffer plastic which is good I think ;D.

It was VERRRRY cold on opening weekend, and still Wodan was fast...especially in the afternoon it kicked some serious b***. A lot faster than what you would expect of a very "cold" coaster !!!

They are still testing that new material...but they would like to change to that material because the abrasion of the polyurethane wheels was too much and they had to renew those very often AFAIK.

Steel is NOT if the discussion anymore AFAIK because it`s unbearably loud !

Greeds...george !

P.S. I will definitively be there to check wodans pacing as soon as the temperatures are rising, gonna report my impressions here ASAP !
