2015: Alton Towers Enchanted Village

The Tarmac is designed to be driven on though. Paving slabs break too easy with cars. You will be able to drive close to the lodge, drop luggage and then go to the car park and walk back. Hence the big roads are Tarmac and the small paths are yellow stuff for walking.

You can get sand coloured tarmac though...just had a whole access road done where I work at Dunham Massey with the sand coloured stuff and it looks good. Would've looked far, far better than normal road tarmac.

Looking at the aerial photo, have they used sand Tarmac for footpaths?

After having a look yesterday at the construction (now all the wooden fences and banners have gone you get a much better view) quite a bit of the Tarmac has been covered over with sand coloured Tarmac or something, and it's clear the Tarmac there at the moment is not finished.

Didn't quite realise that it is just 10 days until this opens! Good to hear that some of the black tarmac has been covered; I hope this will be the case for all of it as it looked very ugly and out of place in what is meant to be a magical village.

Looking forward to popping across and having a look around once it is open.

:)

Ive just got back from having a sneak peek at the Enchanted Village this evening. As Michael said the tarmac is currently being covered with a sand like coating which makes the whole area look much more presentable. We werent allowed inside the treehouses but from looking through the windoes from the decking they look 95% complete with the final finishing touches being added this evening with previews begining tomorrow.

The left side of the village is still very much unfinished with tarmac and other theming elements being layed.

As test runs begin tomorrow (staff preview) there's been the last few touch ups are being completed as I've seen today they have all been cleaned and beds have been made also the bars been stoked and restaurant been set

There will be small improvements over this week such as jet washing before the press reales it all looks amazing

I'm keen to know what the menu of the Crooked Spoon is. Hopefully not an extension of Towers St/Woodcutters.

Indeed, I am looking forward to seeing the menu also. I'm hoping for something rather unique however I'm expecting a cross between Woodcutters and Secret Garden.

:)

A nice insight into the exclusive book The Enchanted Village, that will be released when the village opens. A small view at the end of the lodges too, with the tarmac covered over.

I hope they have the book for sale somewhere, as no doubt in a year or two it will disappear from the lodges and they will have colouring packs only.

Incredibly Efteling/Europa-Park! I wish the park had an Enchanted area too!

They just couldn't do this without having something worlds first/record breaking about it could they! :p

The book looks like a really nice idea though. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have it for sale. In fact I'm pretty sure that copies are going to go missing from the lodges themselves!

:)

Pointless World Record - Tick
Fantastical - Tick

After looking through the photos I've noticed the lodges don't have the themed flooring in the bedrooms like the show lodge, and just have a plain wood effect laminate instead. Slightly disappointing.
