2015: Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure

That's partly my point, this ride looks distinctly 'average'. The only reason the characters look like a good fit is because they look somewhat similar to what you would get from the show, that a certainly nothing special. There is no real sense of entering a underwater adventure of any kind, in fact there is no water.

It would have been good to see some animatronics, water elements. It would have been great to see actual on ride screens instead of stickers, with on board video explaining the mission. Just seems they have settled for the minimum which is a shame.

On-ride screens would be pointless. The weight of the tech and power on a coaster this size would cause issues. Small children would also then be either watching everything go by on the ride and ignore the screen or even worse watching the screen and not enjoying their first coaster.

The theming looks fine. It's the concrete floor they need to work on covering in my opinion. But that could still happen, even if just painted.

I expect the overall attraction to be solid. Nothing more, nothing less. It will do it's job as a kids coaster. It won't wow or amaze anyone. It will fit a huge gap in Towers coaster line up. It will not be of any interest to the rest of the industry.

:)

The adjectives and the general views are that this ride is OK, average, solid, decent and it will do. And it certainly does fill a gap.

All I was hoping was it would offer a better experience. And the choice of Zamperla who you would think you would get slightly more for your money would result in more immersive theming, after all this is meant to resemble a under water reef.

On-ride screens would be pointless.

I think you may be underestimating the intelligence of small children. My 2 year old nephew can operate an IPad proficiently. And that generally is my thought behind a screen on the ride, nothing fancy, they could have done six IPads with a small external battery. And it would have just added to the experience, made it feel more real and authentic, kids will know that that is a sticker and not a real control unit.

Yes but then he would be watching the screen and not the ride. Would adding screens to the back of each seat on Nemesis add to the ride or distract you from what else is happening? I think the stickers are just fine for theming, most other kids coaster wouldn't have bothered at all.

I don't see the point of adding a screen to trains of a coaster that barely lasts 30 seconds.

I think your miss understanding my initial idea, it should enhance the ride, if the kids are interacting with the screen instead perhaps the ride and the offride interactions aren't good enough. It could be something as simple as Captain Barnacle describing the mission up the lift hill, and then during the 15 second ride asking to spot the varies marine animals that need help, like a more advanced Pat system which doesn't need any actual button pushing. Then on the second circuit repeat with different animals.

I know it was never gunna happen but it's just something, relatively simple that could have been done.

With Nemesis the experience is enhanced with the interaction with its surroundings, I think the surroundings of this coaster is going to be somewhat different and not as elaborate, hence why I thought it could have used something a little different.

Unfortunately It isn't as simple or as cheap to just add screens to a coaster as you would think, you don't see many coasters with screens, i can only really think of the small screens on rip ride rocket that you select your music on, I am sure there are others though. screens on any ride vehicle can be a maintance nightmare, something with Altons towers current budgets doesn't need. lots of parks have issues with keeping on board music on rides working.

Still not entirely sure what this 'gap' is that they're filling. The ride is minimum 0.9m, so they have Runaway Mine (though it's nice to add another coaster..)

RMT is a family fun coaster, not something you'd potentially consider as an introduction to a little one who's never been on a coaster before. Something of Ocotonauts scale is the perfect addition for the really small ones to dabble in before taking on RMT and the likes.

On facebook Alton Towers are referring to the ride as 'Octonauts Rollercoaster Rescue' - has the name been altered?

I can't imagine that being the case, as they've produced all the graphics and advertised it as Adventure thus far. Perhaps the individual behind posting on the account had a clueless slip. It wouldn't be the first time the staff across the resort haven't been able to communicate :p

A ride aimed at the under 8 age group, RMT is a bit daunting for some younger children.

Height restrictions don't always indicate the target.

My opinion, better than my worst fears for this ride but it's not exactly mind blowing.

Disappointed at the big wooden fence separating the areas. Although I suppose it's the best thing to do at the end of the day.

I would hazard a guess that CBeebies will keep expanding in that direction so a fence is the most adaptable option.

I like it. No concrete slab on show yay!

The only things that looks naff are the entrance sign and photo booth. Both look plain, boring and cheap.

I doubt Spinball will be around for much longer so the fence doesn't bother me too much, at least they have made some effort and painted it to fit in with the colour scheme.

The effort with the queueline is so lacklustre compared to the ride that it implies to me that this might be Spinball's last year of operation. You'd only make an effort that shoddy if you knew it was just going to be there for a year.
