It also doesn't get them fast track, I wish people would realise that before boasting on Facebook or Twitter about it.

If you want to get up in arms about rap abuse

Being deaf on it's own should not stop you from using the normal queue line, but if you have another condition alongside that, then it's will be the other condition that you will need to declare to get a RAP.

Saying that, loss or hearing can affect your balance, so might cause problems with using the steps.

You will be surprise how a small defect in your health can have a big impact. From my own personal experience when I temporary lost the sight in my right eye, it really did affect my own health in the way of balance, judgement in distance and gave me a massive headache.

Abusing the system and boasting about it, these people should be named and shamed and should be blacklisted and banned from using the RAP at all parks.

Oh they shouldn't be banned from RAP but the parks themselfs. Permanently.

Ride hosts frequently call it "free fastrack"...

I'd rather the rules be a bit relaxed and let one or two scumbags through rather than being too strict and someone in genuine need struggle because they missed a step in the rule list. Someone in the box office has clearly been mugged off for showing empathy to what they clearly thought was a disabled person, I hope this doesn't make that member of staff more cynical when dealing with people in future :(

As pointed out being Deaf can have further impacts on your health but I think the main reason AT would approve this is due to safety. A person in the RAP queue will likely be with a carer who can assist in an emergency evacuation or relay safety information from PA announcements in the queueline. It takes the pressure from the host having to clearly relay information to someone they cannot effectively communicate with.

Personally I think the rules need tightening.

Every man and his dog appears to be able to acquire some form of RAP or believes they are entitled to something extra at Merlin parks, but yet none of the other parks in the UK or even abroad for that matter seem to have the same issues?

Perfectly understandable that there are many guests out there who will have differing requirements when visiting, but it just seems to be more prominent at Merlin parks and as a result, a system which can easily be abused has been deployed.

I doubt they would do anything. They would get bad PR if they clamped down and it won't stop people visiting so there is no point.

Oakwood has a similar problem

Or their specialist has written a paragraph on the issues and reading it shows the problem with queuing. However they want one single line stating 'they can not queue'

My daughter was told she could not RAP as the letter did not say 'this person can not queue' i asked why letters (the main paragraph never changed) used for 3 years is no longer valid, and do the issue not constitute being unable to queue.
They issued a RAP telling me if i turn up with that letter again, they would refuse RAP and may revoke the carers pass.

I may not be taking my daughter to scarefest, if a a updated letter does not arrive from her specialist.

Oakwood seem to let on whole groups of people even if only 1 person as any disability pass. I've also seen people re-riding/swapping seats on a number of occasions.

It's frustrating particularly at Oakwood where throughput is a problem already.

Eeek! Good luck in getting the letter in time. Maybe an email to guest services to see if they can provide clarification in advance might help?
