[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

Fair pay to them, it sounds well thought out and planned. But if I wasn't a member of this forum and was visiting on opening day, I wouldn't see it? Are they sending this video to people who have booked, or are they relying on people spending all their lives glued to their phones scrolling through social media networks?

Everything screams "don't be stupid and go on opening day" to me. It seems they're openly planning around how intolerable it's going to be, even reminding us about extra bad it'll be because it's at Thorpe, and that some chav will inevitably spark up a fag/spliff in the queue line.

I like how we're asked to not push and run, even though the same YouTubers who visited Europa for Voltron, and Alton for Rebo, will be in full attendance. They've already posted embarrassing videos of themselves frantically running to queue entrances on rope drop like desperate idiots. As if they're somehow going to die a slow and painful death if they don't manage to get on the damn thing half hour earlier on opening day, even though the coaster will probably be there for the 30 years that follow.

That video is well done, and it appears they are well-prepared/have a good plan for opening day. Whether their plans work out, we’ll see. There will no doubt be large groups of ignorant people who will run and rush through and ignore staff instructions. You only need to see videos of Nemesis on opening day to get an idea.

I doubt they will accommodate guests requesting front row for opening day or most of this season when it's busy.

I guess the difference with Thorpe and other parks, is that Thorpe is quite small and it’s quite a simple route to hyperia from the entrance. So I guess as long as they have loads of staff on hand and they funnel everyone the same way, it will be hard to run past many people.

All depends how early you get there I guess waiting at the plaza.

I can picture the salty videos from self appointed YouTubers now. Back to the video. Maybe they will also be playing this in the entrance plaza. I think it's all good and quite professional. I expect the main issues to be at the roundabout at carpark at first. I'm surprised they mentioned the park closed qué policy. Join the que before 8 and your get on... Half 11 ride anyone?

I want the crowd control info as a leaflet like the ones Towers used to hand out at fireworks, even though I'm (probably) not going opening weekend.

This all sounds like the sort of thing EP should have been thinking about with Voltron opening, the only thing that isn't clear is how (or if) they're planning on allowing access to Saw/Samurai whilst they're using the overspill queue/holding area. The sensible option would probably just to open them both at 10.30 or so and keep what used to be old town & saw island closed until crowds dissipate. Everything else can open at the usual time for the 6 people not doing Hyperia first.

I would assume they will hold the Hyperia crowd at the picnic plaza and only send people across to the Hyperia plaza once there is space in the queue line for them. Therefore keeping the route from Colossus to Saw open.
