Bellewaerde Park: General Discussion

I wonder how much that's costing to build. It seems like the sort of ride that would be a good option for one of the smaller parks. It's the kind of ride I'd expect Oakwood to build if they were still owned by the McNameras. It would fit in well at Lightwater Valley as well.

Ah yes, sorry. It'd be a large investment for somewhere like Oakwood or Lightwater Valley. You'd be weighing it off against a small woodie or a new themed area, but it feels like it'd be a serious option, even if they are short as Dan says.

Bellewaerde have submitted plans for a new family coaster with a rather unusual layout:

I suspect that this could be a Gerstlauer and it looks to have at least one lift hill and maybe a launch.

Well that didn't last long, Bellewaerde have withdrawn the application for this coaster. There seem to be issues with regards to tree removal, so hopefully they can find a resolution and re-submit the application.

I don’t know much about this park but watching videos from the 80’s and 90s a lot of there rides and attractions were a copy of Drayton’s and even have a lion as a mascot. Was it that the owners liked Drayton and vice versa but this park have moved on over the last 10 years.

The parks are quite similar I guess in terms of their size and setup, with both having zoos and rides alongside each other, and being “regional” tier parks. I’m not sure if there is any sort of connection at a park level beyond simply coincidence (both parks have hardware which is pretty bog-standard, so it’s not surprising to see some similar attraction types showing up).

However, Los Piratas, the old dark boat ride which was replaced by Huracan had a lot in common with Pirate Adventure at Drayton as both rides were created by Space Leisure. They even had the exact same animatronics in many scenes. It could be that potentially Space also worked on other attractions in both parks, I don’t know, but Pirates is perhaps the best known connection.

Well there Peter Pan ride is the same as Drayton’s boat ride, Then you got a mad house,Jungle Cruise,Pirate ship,Train ride,4D cinema. Then there’s the closed attraction Cinema 180, Pirate Adventure clone water ride which both closed cause of H&S and a Ocotopus.
The big difference they still kept up with rides of all ages but Drayton going down the under 12s route.

I started to watch that vlog last night. I thought that character was a great idea, a good way to explain things in a fun way, especially for kids.

Don't know if that would be allowed over here, someone would take offence.

That's what I was thinking, a clever idea but 99% of the British public would find it offensive as it's basically making fun of the pandemic.

Interesting, guessing some of that's going where the coaster their retiring in a few weeks.

Visited last month and thought it was a lovely park.

How bizarre. Hopefully some of it replaces the stupidly pointless duelling alpine coasters.
