It has just reopened. One train service, queue is filling the cattle pen on the ground and the ramp

Surprised it’s that busy now the schools are back. Sounds like there should be 2 trains. At least it’s back open though. Hopefully it still will be tomorrow. Free beer & seafood for the over 40s in Crevettes tomorrow

It's the biggest jolt on the ride by far just before the mid course brake run really throws your body to the right I don't actually find it too painful but it is really awkward.
Does anyone else find PMBO much more smooth when the track is wet?

There are new jolts that weren't there before, going into the mcbr.
Who is to blame for that?

Because they have re profiled a single section of track when that single section sits in within a fixed radius that is not isolated to that single piece of track. On it's own the new profile would probably work. But because of the above mentioned reason, it makes it feel rougher.

I still blame Arrow, their fixed radius design choice is the root cause of the issue. Tazikar have not helped, but they did not fundamentally cause the issue. I do agree though, considering the ride is a fixed radius design, they should not be messing with the profile of track pieces, as you end up with what you get here, rougher track pieces.

I'd love to see a lot of work done on PMPO. The hill's could be reprofiled, the banking changed the trains changed... but none of this will happen because it adds no value to the park or the 99% who ride the ride. It is big, it goes fast and it is the emotional connection to that which makes the ride what it is. It could be better, and at not too much of a cost (relatively) but it would not generate enough cash to repay the investment. some 'soft' :)tonguewink:) enthusiasts might find it 'rough', but I would suggest that 99.9% of people that come off it wouldn't say so.

I feel there was more to the reprofiling of the track in the tunnel. Maybe an issue with stresses of an attempt to fix an on-going issue?

I genuinely think when the time comes, the best option would be for RMC to come in and do something with The Big One. A lot of the supports are akin to a wood coaster, and they could use their T Rex track if needed. This would also be an easy way to reclaim the Height Record for the U.K.

Totally unrelated, but has anyone ever noticed the hidden Feathers McGraw in W&G ? He’s in the umbrella rack in the first scene before your photo is taken !

One thing that rarely gets mentioned is PB and it's low erosion of its flat ride offering. The last flat they built was Skyforce and I can't even remember what came before that. Over the last 20 years it just hasn't invested in large flat rides. I'm still puzzled as to why they don't have a giro swing or Top Scan given its a staple of most parks and would offer something that PB don't currently have.

All the talk of coasters but they don't ivest on flats either, are they totally skint?

Maybe the park feel that in Ice Blast, Skyforce, Airbender, and arguably the Backyardigans sea storm along with the heritage rides such as Gallopers and Flying Machines they have that side of things covered.

But of course we’d all like to see a modern thrill flat come to the park and a big gyro swing seems like such an obvious fit.

I think the majority of park attendees made a rapid move to the queue as the first train starts its ascent. Icon's queue was in the station nearly all day. Valhalla opened quite early but had very few takers.

A few changes spotted around the park:
- River Caves had the steam effects turned on yesterday
- Some new(?) black benches have appeared between Valhalla and Derby Racer
- The tanker wagons on PB Express were in the process of being repainted. Looks like a bit of general upkeep has been going on too. They were running the Carol Jean loco yesterday, which is a rarity

Can't remember if I posted this a few weeks ago - The old driving ends of the monorail have appeared in the jungle scene of PB Express. Various cars from that have moved around in the last year or so, I get the impression the park are keen to get rid

I guess compared to Towers the park feels it is well covered on flat rides, and I'd be inclined to agree. They also have plenty in Nickleodeon such as Spongebob. Sure a Gyro would be great and a new flat would be good but their no way near as dire as Towers and can hold up their own in that area. Overall I feel Pleasure Beach is a great all round park with water rides, dark rides, flats and coasters. Also they generally do a good job on up keep

I hate the big one for many reasons but mainly because it’s the longest coaster we’ve got in the UK and, despite looking absolutely magnificent, is quite possibly also the dullest in the UK. I get more air time on troublesome trucks… which considering the big one’s height and length is utterly, utterly depressing. Sell it for scrap and use the money to retrack the nash.

I feel the Pleasure Beach has a good mix of flats/ dark rides and coasters. As much as I would love to see a Giro Swing at BPB I can't see it happening because it isn't what would pull a big enough crowd If they were going for a flat I think, financially, something like a Giro Drop Tower would make more sense. They could reclaim some sort of arbatry record (Europe/ UK's tallest), it would look impressive and is the sort of thing that could tempt people in. Their through-put can be pretty impressive too.
In terms of funds - I don't think they are doing too badly at the moment. I feel that they just tend to spend on different things to other parks. I believe that this year Ghost Train is getting a good bit of money spent on it along with a few other projects.

Good morning all we are coming to the park Wednesday looking at the forecast it's a wet day not an issue but wondering what the ride availability is likely to be like always been fortunate when visiting its been dry

Ride availability should be good. The current forecast calls for high winds in the morning, but easing towards the afternoon. PMBO may not operate in the morning, but they are generally pretty good at keeping staff on and opening when possible. Full details of planned closures are here: https://www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com/planned-maintenance/

The good thing about bad weather is that you will likely have walk-on's most of the day.

Couple of changes on the planned maintenance page -

CLOSED FOR REMAINDER OF 2023 SEASON

Impossible, Alpine Rallye, Thompson Carousel, Eddie Stobart Convoy Ride, and Dora’s World Voyage will remain closed for the remainder of the 2023 season.

GRAND PRIX

The Grand Prix will operate on a weekend-only basis.

Certainly not ideal, hope it doesn't imply financial difficulty
