Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Icon - 2018 Mack Double Launch Coaster

That is literally one of its first test runs at the bare minimal power to make it over the hill, I think it's safe to give them a bit of breathing room with this.

Wicker Man on the other hand had been running with people on it and for a few months when we first saw its aerial testing video and concluded it looked slow.

I have no doubt this will speed up.

Had to get it out there and out of the way though.

In all seriousness though, when you look at the profile of the airtime hill there is no way that the train could safely traverse this at any great speed without people blacking out. The top of the hill is just too tight a radius for the train to fly through it. For this reason, I don’t expect the speed it eventually ends up at will be too much more than what we see in the video. Sure it will get a little faster and though.

It's a Mack.

Mack coasters are not balls-to-the-wall intense.

Anyone expecting the next Maverick has simply overhyped what a Mack launch is to themselves.

What they are, however, are quality coasters.

Was on Granada reports this evening as well with a couple of interviews and footage inside the station and of it starting to launch. Sadly no footage of the 2nd launch and section.

It is a pity BPB don't have a bit more style about them to put out a really nice high-end video about the first test.

You know, bit of pomp and ceremony!
Thought the same, for the “UK’s Most Famous Theme Park” it was a bit underwhelming but maybe we’ll get a better one in week or two.

But it was great to see what we did.

Comparing apples and pears. Woodies tend to vary more in speed over steel coasters because of the metal on metal wheels and general lack of trims or other speed controls.

I will reserve judgement on the pace of this until we have seen more than the first 60m of the ride.

(Before anyone gets on a high horse i fully expect icon to be a better ride)
