Cedar Point - Goodbye Disaster Transport, Hello Gatekeeper

UPDATE: This is how Gatekeeper is currently looking:

As you can see, the immelmann is complete and now they are going to be working on the turn into the airtime hill next.

When they said it was big, they weren't kidding!

Anyone fancy buying me a ticket out there??

Wow looking good so far! That second photo is just pure sexy, something nice coloured B&Ms do so well! :p

Sorry about the double post, but Cedar Point have just posted this photo on Facebook!

That is rather gorgeous!

:)

*drools* That looks lovely!

I find it amazing how a ride opening in May has it's track nearly finished In the snow. Yet a ride opening in March barely had it's track up whilst it hasn't snowed ;)

Bloody hell! That is one good looking coaster! Just a shame there isn't much theming to match.

There doesn't seem to be many supports around the top of the first Dive/Drop, I assume this is because the support tubes are thicker. This should be the most beautiful ride at Cedar Point since Maverick.

Someone really needs to knock some sense into cedar fair though. If only they realised how much theming adds to the experience of a ride. Thats why Cedar Fair/Six Flags have to keep adding new coasters & breaking records, because the quantity has to make up for the quality.

Look forward to seeing this complete!

:)

And it has next to no theming! More proof that SW7 is clearly behind schedule! ;)

Hyde244 from Coasterforce was given the opportunity to get up close to the new ride at Cedar Point and took these great photos for everyone to see:

(I split the photos into 5 spoiler tags to save space :p )

"Cedar Fair CEO Matt Ouimet and VP of Planning and Design Rob Decker stopped by the steel manufacturing plant today to check on the progress of Cedar Point's new GateKeeper roller coaster. Here they are standing in one of the keyholes of the 100-foot-tall towers that will loom high above the park's redesigned main entrance with a representative from the plant."

It's a rollercoaster hole. A hole for rollercoasters. I want to be in the rollercoaster hole! :D

Just being having a look at the gatekeeper and it looks brilliant ride, rather looking forward to seeing the finshed product :)

Looks a little dangerous...
Imagine if there was a big wave and it just drenched everyone in the queue... :p

Looking forward to the finished product anyway...

Doubt there will be many massive waves seeing as it's just a large inland lake!

That is unless Niagara Falls decides to give way! :p

However, I have to say, it looks stunning, it is just, well, huge! I look forward to seeing it standing proud over The Main Gate! :D

Well it's the Great Lakes, not the coast. So I'd have thought it would take a pretty spectacular, extinction level event to create a Tsunami there. ;)
