I notice that no one touches the can/jar of food on the right. Surely in the event of isolation or lock-down, it's food you need to survive on, not toilet rolls. If you ran out of toilet roll, take a bath or shower. If you ran out of food, you will starve and your immune system will become weak.
I can only assume that people are S****ing themselves, hence the reason for the toilet rolls dash.
While these people are stocking up on toilet rolls, they should also stock up on condoms just to make sure that these idiot just don't reproduce either.

There was a lot of talk about hot water and that the taps at AT didn’t really have it. I’ve just come back from a weekend in Belgium and all public toilet sinks (even in hotel lobby and similar) only had cold water to wash hands with. So the idea of hot water is needed to wash hands doesn’t seem to be a universal idea!

As for why test @Dave , they have got the virus under control now in China and South Korea due to huge testing programmes. They were able to diagnose within 4 hours and get the person isolated so they don't infect others very quickly. They could then also offer treatment like anti virals very quickly.
It also provided a better reflection of the CFR and the control they had on the virus spreading.

According to my friend who lives in Japan, it started out there when the Jap equivalent of 4chan started a rumour that all their toilet paper was made in China and they had shutdown the production lines to make face masks, and people went out and cleared the shelves of them.
About a week after he told me that, I saw one of those viral stories on Facebook that said practically the same thing (that toilet roll production lines had been shut down to make face masks) next thing the panic buying of bog rolls started here.
Some people are so gullible, and some you would think should know it's a joke but don't.

China and SK didn’t test everyone, they tested the people who needed testing. You speak as though China got the disease under control in days, it took them 3 months. The UK is barely 3 weeks in and only 1.5 weeks into the community transmission phase.
Italy is interesting, it seems to have a fatality rate in excess of global trends. I’m no expert on their health system so is it that or has something interesting happened with the virus over there.
Or the number infected is far higher than reported.

SK and China tested anyone who wanted testing. SK you can drive up to a test station and have a test. Within a few hours the test results are text back to you.
In the UK you can only get a test if:
1. You get admitted to hospital and either have a respiratory issue, have been to an affected country, have a flu like illness
2. Have been to an affected country and have symptoms
3. Have been in contact with someone who is known to have the virus
Now can your explain to me this ..... Given there are now in excess of 100 people in the UK who don't know where they caught it and have not been abroad, how can they get a test until they have significant symptoms, which by then they may of infected another 20/30 people?
We should be at a point in the UK where anyone can get a test without needing a referral and get the results back the same day.
I feel so sad for Italy and it's people. So many parents, grandparents taken away from loved ones in such a horrible way.

Because people like you would get tested every other day and the lab wouldn’t be able to process the results needed to save people’s lives.
The test also has a high false negative rate particularly in asymptomatic patients so you could get a negative result and still actually have the virus.

I assume they're predicting that cases will begin to increase exponentially; less than 2 weeks ago, we were only getting numbers of new cases per day in single digits, so I'd say it seems pretty plausible that we could hit our peak outbreak in 2 weeks' time.

Also, as @Jonathan said, 100,000 deaths is a worst case scenario; it won't necessarily be that high.

A lot of guessers are guessing things.
No one anywhere knows how this will play out. It's not worth worrying about because you can't influence it.
