The problem is with that is the thing they've fell afoul of runs over three years so depending on which financial year's of Evertons are the main cause of the breach it feels like more charges and points deductions are effectively for the same crime they've already been punished for.

Suppose that's a good get out clause for crimes.

I might have murdered two people, but I should really only be charged for one.

Yeah thats a ridiculous way of looking at it. Chelsea have spend massively recently, however there accounts over the last 3 years just brought them in under ffp. Next season they will need to make 105m profit, not player sales but profit. The difference between us and Everton is we cant loose as much in a 3 year period (unfair but the rules) we sold a player in the transfer window which rightly or wrongly started in 1 financial window and closed in another in order to meet ffp, cant be telling me we blantently have ignored the rules therefore should be automatically punished with a points deduction.

It would be great if the FA actually worked all the rules out properly before trying to enforce them

Ive been shocked more than ever, this week, on the poor state of football broadcasting in this country.

Take, Nottingham forest v Liverpool. Saturday 02/03/2024.

Ball is dropped to Kelleher after a stoppage In play because of a head injury. Decision to drop to Kelleher, incorrect. Forest had control of the ball.

The fury of this incident. Liverpool, did not clear and the ball and score from that resulting drop ball. Couple of mins of play, before a corner in which forest dribble the ball out, get dispossessed and turned, before allowing a cross, to be headed in by Nunez marked by two forest defenders.

Firstly, yes forest could have scored if the game hadn't been stopped. Then again. They may not have. Liverpool had at the time, plenty of men back and even if the dropped ball had gone to forest. All of the LFC players would have been in defensive formation. Chances are, forest wouldn't have scored. We are all forgetting Ryan Yates very high boot near the scene of the head injury and the fact that forest couldn't hit a barn door that afternoon.

"Do we just keep playing till Liverpool score?" No, the fourth official help up a MINIMUM of 8 added minutes. In those 8 minites. Two forest players booked for time wasting. And two delays for head injuries. One of which was your own keeper.

There is no conspiracy. A dropped ball being incorrectly given, is like a thrown in being incorrectly given. Has no real bearing on the game. Why don't we analyse why they failed to clear a poor corner? Or beat a side that's clearly on its arse. Why don't we focus on the disgusting scenes after, when a chairman of a football club, is stood on the touchline waiting for the ref? Why are forest coaches being red carded? Kind of example is that to set?

Why is mark clattenburg giving interviews to the press in the mix zone at the city ground about it? What help is that?

Most Forest fans accept we should have just booted the ball up the other end rather than try to play it out. At the same time if Forest was given the drop ball, yes we most likely wouldn't have scored but we may have kept the ball up at that end.
Ultimately that decision took the pressure of Liverpool coupled with the potential penalty just before which granted would have be light but has been given this season. This just adds to the list of mistakes that seems to be going against Forest at the moment.

You can't winge about the "penalty" only moments before danns was wrestled to the ground in the forest box, in similar way.

At least Tierney is consistent.

The most consistent thing is that ref's (owing to human nature) will be less likely to give decisions against 'big clubs' as instinctively they know that there could be repurcussions weeks afterwards if a bad decision leads to said big club not getting a good result (death threats, media coverage etc). If a bad decision is made against a none fashionable club such as West Brom or Huddersfield, a couple of days later no one will know anything about it, even if they're in the Prem at the time. Do that against Liverpool or United, the media will be all over the ref's and league until the next round of fixtures (putting pressure on the next ref to give them a break). Naturally, if you're a ref, at that split second when you have to give a decision which could be to the detriment of said big club, you might just take a 5th or 6th look in your minds eye before taking action against that big team, whereas with a smaller club you might just give a decision more quickly even if you weren't so sure.

The big clubs also have the quality and drive to keep going for the win. Forest look at times like a club, put together by an owner, over paying for talent that isn't good enough but he's heard of them before.

9 times out of 10. Hudson odoi looses the ball and nothing happens. On that day, he lost the ball to a world cup winning midfielder who can not only tackle him, have the talent to turn and produce a sublime cross to a forward who embraces that.

I wasn't winging about not getting the penalty as I said it would have been a soft call that neither set of fans would have been happy to concede. You can't deny though that the mistake in regards to the drop ball did release the pressure.

As a fan at the moment of a team that is struggling and with an unknown in regards to the point deduction its just getting frustrating. Let's be honest we can't exchange out apologies from the referee association at the end of the season for points.

Mark Clattenburg now should only be referred to as Gladiators official Mark Clattenburg.

Also lovely result for Liverpool tonight in Prague. Hopefully that's the tie done and a chance to play a weakened side next Thursday in between the Man City and Man United games.

Rangers get a good result in Lisbon and sets them up nicely for the second leg. Will it be another run to the final I wonder?
Certainly seems to have been the game and result of the night. I was very much surprised by the Brighton result - I would have expected a much better performance.

The big game of the weekend is, without question, the Fife Derby.

Forests ran like Football Manager with an in game editor. Take over your favourite mediocre club, stick a billion in the bank and buy any names you can.

Imagine the party in Dublin if rangers and Liverpool get there.
Given the notorious sectarian history of some Rangers fans regarding Catholics and Irish (though not as major today), it could be a tasty affair for all the wrong reasons. To Celtic fans, who see Ireland as their mother country, the thought of their arch rivals winning a European trophy in the Irish capital is something they'll never hear the end of.

Forest should get relegated for hiring Clattenburg as an "advisor" given how corrupt and useless he proved himself.

Looks like he'll do anything for money, to be honest. Can't confirm 100% if that was also the case whilst he was refereeing though 🫢

Clattenburg is great in Gladiators. He does have to be firm, especially with one gladiator in particular. You don't want to mess with him!
