Merlin Parks & Attractions: Quick Questions.

It will be interesting to see if they try and maintain some integrity on the pricing of the annual passes in a bid to try and shift people to membership.

When they had their black friday sale that ended in december they said they had no plans for a january sale this year

They said existing MAP holders should also take advantage of the 3 free months offer as they wasn't having a renewal sale in january either
 
At the same time saying they're having a January sale in the middle of a sale that's designed to increase sales wouldn't be good buisness as it could stop people who would buy in the black Friday sale from buying until January.
 
Why would they have had plans for a January 2019 sale in November 2019?

There will be a sale 1st. January.
Merlin's business model is built around using discounts and vouchers to drive sales.
 
It’s a shame that they don’t acknowledge individual passes, the new price is only if you are on a family passes.

Must have been slow changing over, noticed people were complaining that for Premium it was still showing £179 when attempting to make the purchase.

Funny how they announced this just after the traditional January sale period when they know a lot of people will have been renewing their passes..!
 
A response to the lack of passes purchased from a lack of January sale perhaps?

Either way, I have no intention of renewing my MAP this year.

Its been about six years since I had an annual pass but that sounds expensive, they do seem to have jumped in price.

I wonder if the value is still there for many people?
Compared to £34 as the online price for the theme parks you would need at least four theme park trips in a year (or three theme parks plus two others).

Which isn't bad value if you visit often enough, but I stopped as it just got so repetitive.
 
£150 would be the most I'd pay, anything over that is when the value for money starts to drop due to the declining quality of the overall product.

Six Flags for example know that their parks are tacky and bland and offer season passes for £50.

Anyone remember the £80 Tussauds Pass? Those were the days.

Presuming that was in the early 2000s, that's ~£130 in today's money, and that didn't include any of the Lego, Sea Life or Dungeon Attractions, nor did it include any of the stuff which has subsequently opened (Blackpool etc.).

(It did include Heide Park and possibly some other European stuff I can't remember now though).
 
The Merlin passes are excellent value, if you are near the North Westk (Blackpool & AT) or London clusters, and can justify a dozen+ visits in a year.
The issue is you can feel a little locked into the brand when choosing a day out, as £100 vs. "free" for a family often makes Merlin the better option.
We tend to get Merlin for a year, hammer the NW & London, then take a year or two off to get out of that trap.
 
Yup, agree with the above as a "single rider".
I did one year on the pass, after doing each of the Blackpool attractions once, I had zero desire to do any of them again, apart from the ballroom, which you can often do for free off peak via the balcony.
 
Merlin are up holding their usual high standards of care and attention to detail on their twitter account I see.

On Friday they tweeted about all the things you could do with your Merlin pass over *this weekend*. Accompanied by pictures of Nemesis, Stealth, Colossus and Rita.



And this morning a tweet highlighting the benefits of a half term short break at Towers. That finished yesterday.



Bravo.
