Ride Availability/Operations 2022-24

You could probably manage all of them providing things open on time. Go straight to dark forest then valley then wicker then finish in X sector. As long as you avoid Wicker and Smiler first thing you should be fine
Inadvertently proving @Bowser's point. If you're already aware of operational issues, and planning out an optimal route through the resort, you're not a casual visitor, or average customer. You've already got inside knowledge. You've got to imagine going there today, thinking it's operating at the same level as the pinnacle of Towers history, that's when you run into problems.

Again, to reinforce other points made.
With a mobility issue, and no skyride, and the alternatives being offered not suitable or appropriate for my personal needs, I had to leave the resort at 2pm, having done all the rides I could access comfortably.

The skyride situation is a disgrace, two whole years of disability discrimination.
Filthy Merlin.

Skyride is a ride not a mobility aid, you really need to stop repeating the same thing all the time. You can access all the parts of the park the Skyride serves step free and alternative aids are available for the hills.

I normally go on sunday as it is less busy, and in july I got on all of the rides without any problems, and managed to get on nemesis something like 5 times, gal 2 times and wickerman 2 times without any fast track and I don't really plan what to do normally I just check the queue times and then decide where to go, although normally I go to nemesis/galactica first as people take a while to get there then in the last hour the queue for nemesis is often only like 10-20 mins

Before it goes any further, can we please not have yet another discussion about the Skyride in this thread. It has been covered time and time again, and we know people's different thoughts on the situation.

Doesn't look like the park held up too well on Saturday. We were in X-Sector in the afternoon and the situation around The Smiler seemed like one big mess. A huge queue outside of the pit for a ride that was closed, then I think it did open before going down again almost immediately. Wicker Man seemed to be down for much of the day as well.

Operations on Nemesis in the morning were great though, far better than at the start of the season.

Ye but general day guests do no planning and that can always lead to disaster even if operations are good. To make the most of your day you ideally need to know when is the best time to go on things

This all goes out of the window if rides don't open on time or break down as you are queueing for them.

It used to be that you could get on Smiler at 10am if you were in the park by 9.30 and joined the queue early, then you could dash to Dark Forest and tick off both coasters by 11am. Then head to Forbidden Valley to do Nemesis and Galactica with sub-30 minute queues before too many people entered the area.

The majority of days this season this hasn't been possible because of delayed openings and unexpected downtime. So it's pointless to suggest that people swot up on the 'best time to go on things' when you can no longer plan your day effectively.

Great to see!
Also good to see better availability for the coasters the last few days. All coasters opened on time today except 13 at 10.05 and galactica at 10.20 😂!! General downtime hasn't been too bad either in recent days. Hopefully this can continue for Scarefest

Hmm doesnt look right shortening group to gup wouldnt grp have been better and all that work to have no roof seems pointless to do it during the season.

Well the recent operational cuts at Alton Towers are certainly noticeable. On Friday there were quite a lot of school trips, but the park did not feel overly busy. However, queues during most of the day (until about 4pm) were at least 40 minutes for the thrill coasters.

Nemesis and Oblivion were both being operated by 4 members of staff (op, 2 hosts and a batcher). When they needed to check the height of someone on Nemesis, they had to unlock restraints, get the guest off and do the height check, before then re-checking restraints. Not ideal when this would have been done at the entrance had their been an entrance host.

No idea what was going on with Rita, but dispatches were terrible and it was struggling to get 400pph when we did it.

Availability didn't seem too horrendous. Galactica opened late which meant we didn't do it, as the queue was too long at the time we were back in Valley. And both Thirteen and Rita were down at the same time for some of the afternoon.

Could be worse though, could be Six Flags Great Adventure!

Wow, I knew Inferno could be operated with 2 hosts but I've never seen just 2 hosts on Nemesis in all the years I've been going to Towers.

Am I right in saying Oblivion only requires 2 extra staff for 2 train dispatch? Just 2 extra hosts?

Oblivion listed as closed for maintenance on the website. This season has been absolutely dreadful, swear the park hasn’t gone 2 clear weeks without some sort of closure other than Hex and Skyride this year
it was open yesterday arround the middle of the day, but aparently later in the day it was down then went up, sent some trains round then went back down again, I am guessing something has broke :/

Nemesis only ever operated with 4 hosts because it technically had to. The lift hill was monitored by the ride host next to the op cabin and not the op.

B&M changed the set-up to requiring 2 enabling hosts later on so New Nemesis will have the newer set-up.
