I think the more I say it in my head the more in sounds better and I like it.

In my opinion Inoculator is too RollerCoaster Tycoon, Smiler is eccentric and in a weird way very English.

I have liked the name from the start and now that we can see it in it's proper font and colour next to the logo it looks awesome!
 
I love how much attention a name gets.

Personally I like The Smiler, by giving it the 'the' makes it feel like it is a machine or object that serves a purpose. Of course it then has a very sinister undertone - its perhaps not as punchy as Nemesis or Oblivion, but should it be?
This is hopefully a ride with much more back story and theming to create a whole experience, with Nemmy and Blivvy its clear before you ride it what you can expect - The Smiler less so, which adds more to the underlying theme, no?

Its certainly got more thought that Rita: Queen of Speed which eventually just became Rita and holds no ties to the area its in. Also its less gimmicky than Th13teen, which still looks ridiculous and childish now.
 
Not sure if the account is legit or not, but I had this tweeted to me last night:

(I had tweeted to no one in particular- just seen the creepiest video on Vimeo #getcorrected)

Its fake, there were a few tweets last night stating that the ride will definitely not be called The Smiler, and its posted a screenshot of the video that was removed. If it was run by Towers, they wouldn't want to promote a video they had taken down. :p
 
Just looking at that video again (& its awsomeness) ;)...

... If it is for TV it must be post watershed ( a la Th13teen ) or will it just be viral?

Because its creepy.

Quite possible they might be scaling up their operations ready for The Smiler's minisite and press coverage.

It's throwing 503s right now, which usually indicates service issues. I'm pretty sure a website update that goes according to plan shouldn't be doing this. ;)

Ah I didn't see the 501's, I was just getting a blank page. Hopefully there will be an update today.
 
Slight shame Alton have used the Metro for this when many methods of public transport arent working today. Hope it doesnt impact too much.

We have 100% official confirmation from the Towers Twitter now, the name is growing on me seeing it used more often.
