If it really is going to be there for a decade then it is more of a permanent structure than a temporary one and so at least some effort should be made for theming and so on.James said:I don't think it's a matter of them choosing to make the new hotel look like shipping containers. It's more of the construction of module units always ends up with a shipping container look. It's not really something that can be escaped. They are just boxes connected to one another!
Assuming the plan is to keep this type of accommodation until 2024 at Thorpe, from Merlin's point of view there will be very little point in making it look extravagant or more than boxes connected to one another when the whole thing will be gone in a decade.

Re: Thorpe Park
You could quite easily add some cladding to the sides of the containers, so they look more like real buildings, most Travelodges and student halls are made from shipping containers, but you would never know from the outside, because they clad them, usually in fairly cheap plastic type materials.

The new containers aren't the only new thing coming to Thorpe Park next year. I can't say what I've had confirmed to me but I can see many of you getting angry once you find out.
I think it's an ok investment, but I wouldn't quite do it the way they are. /cryptic

That would absolutely suck. Someone mentioned Nemesis: Onrefni
That would not surprise me, though given how a few of us observed that poor B&M being abused this year by the worst operation of any ride I have witnessed (admittedly, never been to mingerland), the idea of adding something extra to that is... well.

Re: Thorpe Park
So, we have a new page for Thorpe's 'WaterFront Hotel'
Features:
- Each Room sleeps 4 people (1 Double + 1 Bunk Bed)
- En-suite Wet Room
- Flat screen TV with a range of digital channels
- FREE WiFi
- Climate controlled air conditioning
Family 2 day packages start from £52.25pp.
Not too bad I guess, but it's still a glorified shipping container :\
Can I also just ask, do they actually intend to use Heide Park's Wing Coaster 'Promo shots' on the walls?
