Thorpe Park: General Discussion

They as well go full Rotten Tomatoes and just block everybody whose opinion they don't agree with, whatever happened to this old concept of listening to your customers, did Elon Musk hide it away in the Tesla he sent to Mars?

Such a strange world we live in where huge great companies are going out of their way to actively alienate the very customers they rely on to survive. If you don't like the way people have reacted to a "marketing stunt", just ignore them, perhaps learn from it and move on, no need to go out of your way to antagonise them.

The unprofessional social media for the park the last couple years is exactly why the park is in such the state it is, the lack of management is still clear to see.

What they should be saying to those that aren’t happy about the event is there sill more to do over the year in which we celebrate our 40 years etc

Yeah, I'm not a fan of this retaliation mentality they've got going on with their social media responses.

Sometimes it'd just be better if they kept their mouths shut.

I seem to recall somebody on the Alton Towers social media pages was doing similar last season. Perhaps they moved to the Thorpe Park team...

A few staff have moved between the southern parks and Alton before.

Completely different kettle of fish; Rotten Tomatoes have blocked people from commenting on films that weren't available for the public to see yet, presumably as the comments were just mean-spirited trolling, rather than any constructive discussion. Seems OK to me to ask people to see a film or at least wait for the reviews to roll in before gobbing off.

On the other hand, perhaps that means I have to give this Fortnite event at Thorpe Park the benefit of the doubt, too. o_O

It seems more like something you would have in Alton Towers in the conference suite, as an evening activity for hotel guests. Not a big theme park event.

Will this draw people in to want to book tickets at Thorpe Park? No obviously... actual gamers will have what they want in the comfort of their own homes, casual gamers will want to go to a theme park to go on rides, not play games.

It's an odd setting and doesn't do anything to improve Thorpe's failing image.

In fairness to Thorpe, this idea is pretty harmless and easy to avoid if it's not your thing. Similar to love Island.

However at the end of the day - it's a theme park and the priority should be the rides. I'd much prefer them to focus on getting the basics right (queue times, downtime etc).

With regards to Thorpe's social media team and responses; some of what they post does seem to be aimed at their apparent target audience, but I will admit that some of what they post probably doesn't help them.

For example, I once saw someone say that they had a bad day there or something like that and Thorpe's response was a GIF saying "Oh, that's a good one!" As the person was already mad at Thorpe due to their bad day, I'd imagine that Thorpe probably dug themselves an even deeper hole by saying that...
